Is this rape or racism?

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

Turk, I have read this piece in the "newspaper" supplied by you as a link, needless to say I find it incredable, baffling, confusing ,and many other words that I cannot think of now, what on earth can one comment about?
I am totally gobsmacked, a very non religious word but lets see what others think about it.

touby!

You have nothing to comment! OK, answer these questions which may help. What is incredible about it? What is baffling? What is confusing?

Very sorry, its obviously normal conduct for the country concerned, all countries can make their own laws, just because I am gobsmacked does not mean that others cannot find such things "Normal" personally I don't.
Here is an example of entrenched brainwashing of a people that has overtaken common sense.Great for the lawyers of course I expect they had a field day and made lots of dosh.I would like KAY'S ( I am not an att. etc )take on this if he cares to give it, but I can understand perfectly if he is gobsmacked like me.

It is neither! It is a waste of the courts time.

A women fell for a man's story, had sex with him and then regreted it.

This is a very familar story over history!

My advice to women is get over it!!!!

If you are worried about your man's work, race, religion etc perhaps you should spend more time getting to know the person before jumping into bed.

But if you arent concerned about these things, go ahead, have sex, have fun.....but don't cry rape afterwards.

That does a dis-service to women who are genuinely raped.

Very interesting observation Bev. I don't think this precedent would stick else I could conversely meet up with a woman and have sex with her. Then a few days later, I'd sue for rape because she had fake boobs and a face-lift surgery. I'd argue it's rape because I initially thought the whole package was "natural."

This case has politics written all over it... journalists of that region also have a way of "slanting" stories to suit their target audience.

Toubab, the lawsuit should be thrown out. It is likely tp be so in the U.S.
The situation is similar to what is refered to in the U.S. law books as "Heart balm statutes" (breach of marriage promise, particularly). Does the word heart balm ring a bell?It is very complicated and often fivolous. Most courts in many states do not entertain it.

During the process of courtship, so many things are said and done which are not entirely true. It is many times part of the romance. Do not quote me on that one!!!
The reggae superstar, Gregory Isaacs sings in "Love is Overdue": who's gonna hold and squeeze me tight; ... who is gonna tell me lies and let me think they are true yeah; now that she's gone out of my life...

toubab, I fully agree with gambiabev. And I think I am a 'modern' woman too.

Imagine a German jugde made such a verdict in a comparable case. The whole world would cry 'Racism!'

This story is so trivial... And you're right, kayjatta - this honorable lady has interesting ideas about a lasting relationship

Does this qualify as 'world politics' ???

Of course the whole thing is a waste of time for lawyers (well, they're making money) and judges but i am surprised that you all turn against the woman, while it says in the article that this 'Jewish bachelor' was married and a father of two small children..
Imagine, this ***** being your husband.........

Some people can make life very complicated with their silly pretensions
