I recieved this information in an e mail today from a friend,
"27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for............. Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August. It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles off earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am. It will look like the earth has 2 moons.
The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. "
is it a joke? is it true ? does it tell of the future? does it tell of disaster?
I havn't looked into it at all, someone might like to

Tamsier,it is very strange that you should highlight my mistake and today a discovery that is fantastic ,but maybe a sign of things to come.
OK I was fooled but this I believe to be genuine,I know that BBC player is unlikely to be available everywhere so no video, that is why I have printed the article that appears in the piece
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-10701815
Help Astronomers have discovered the most massive stars to date.
Using the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope, they found one which at birth had more than 300 times the mass of the Sun and is 10 million times more luminous.
This video shows R136, a cluster of young, massive and hot stars located inside the Tarantula Nebula, in one of the Milky Way's neighbouring galaxies, the Large Magellanic Cloud.
The study is published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
Astronomer Maggie Aderin-Pocock explains why the discovery is significant.
