These are not mere coincidences. Had Kairaba Jawara gracefully retired from politics, he would have dreamt of launching a book in that Five Star hotel named after him. He made that dream now come through. He is now walking free elderly statesman on Gambian soil 15 years after being toppled by coup. That is a slot on his scoreboard.
He is still Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara whatever that means to him. With all his triumphs and tribulations, the man has something to feel good about. Of course, he is also the Tiger Woods of Gambia. When you talk golf in Gambia, you talk Jawara.
