This from the D.O.
http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/scbs-2009-operating-profit-climbs-to-us515bn
I think that it would have been much more usefull for a report from Standard Chartered Bank Gambia to have been made instead of the Global performance of Standard Charted Bank PLC,do the words of Mike Hart, Regional Chief Executive Officer, Africa, mean anything at all read this for instance, make sense to you or is it like " politico speak",? you judge.
"Across the region we remain in a position of strength- our balance sheet remains in very good shape with liquidity closely managed, whilst the investments we have made in our distribution channels, in our products, our services, our people and our systems are realising immediate value. We continue to differentiate our brand and have confidence in our strategy for long-term, sustainable growth".

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
