NRP breaks silence

Dullo Bah, the Campaign Manager of the opposition National Reconciliation Party (NRP) has said that the party still exists, and is busy on a re-structuring exercise, noting that as of now they have no time for any political alliance.
"We the NRP are at the moment re-structuring our party, and we have no time, as of now, for any political alliance," said Mr. Bah who walked into our offices over the weekend.
According to him, the party is currently preoccupied with making sure that they have committees throughout the country. He further revealed that they are preparing to tour the country, just as the ruling APRC National Mobiliser, Yankuba Colley has done, to sensitise the electorate concerning the forthcoming voter registration and NRP party congress. He further revealed that experts and party officials are working on the party's manifesto.
Mr. Bah said it could be true that there is voter apathy, and that there is no credible alliance, but maintained that "when going for an alliance, you should go for a credible alliance."
On the "No Elections" campaign by Lamin Sanneh, the Western Region Governor, Mr. Bah said Governor Sanneh should take time to read the constitution and not to mislead Gambians.
On the subject of issuing of permits for party political rallies, Mr. Bah maintained that all political parties should be treated equally.
Commenting on Yankuba Colley's (Mayor of Kanifing Municipality and the APRC National Mobiliser) statement that the opposition parties in the country are not credible as quoted in an interview with the Daily News, Bah said he was more than disappointed by such remarks, and noted that "the opposition parties are partners in development."
On the forthcoming general voter registration, Mr. Bah said that they are happy that it is going to be a biometric system, which he said, is an efficient system, but added that only efficient, honest and dedicated people should execute this function.
"We don't need people who have political parties in their hearts. We want people who have this country at heart."
