From what many people talk about, it sounds as though Yaya Jammeh is bent on destroying evidence (people who know about the many killings) for fears. Talks are that those who know so much will stand in the witness box when Jammeh is unseated.

Is this president destroying evidence by killing or maiming men and women who know so much and will be ready to testify in the event of his inevitable unseating?

Does anyone take these talks for real concern or just an extension of gossip falling on the hard skin of a president in decline?

Is it true that some of those being arrested and detained recently have done some killing and maiming by commands of Jammeh?

Makes a lot of sense to me. In the intelligence business, knowing too much could be deadly. Bombarde and others are 'living files' of Jammeh's atrocities. These people perhaps harbor some of Jammeh's darkest secrets, and their continued freedom and access could sooner or later pose the greatest threat to Jammeh's own security and possible criminal conviction in the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
All tyrants try to cover their criminal tracks, and this often includes the destruction of the very people they used to carry out executions and special missions...
The best revelations of Jammeh's deadly schemes could only come from people like Bombarde. On the day of judgment, at the right place and time, when granted immunity from prosecution, I am sure Bombarde (Yankuba Touray and Ed. Sighateh) will turn in their boss...

Lot more people (not only by arithmetical scale but by deep source information value)are being rounded up. Are we standing by Dr Saine when he broke in with concerns that the end of game is spelling?

Yankuba and Eward stand very tall treees in the thick forest of secret killings and having to eliminate them runs the risk of destroying lot of evidence.

Did Yankuba and Edward ever thought that it was wrong to be part of this ugly coup affair?

Talks are that Kawsu Camara (Bombarde) is spilling out rotten beans by open confession of what he has been doing for the Sultan. Doctors think he is hyper and resorted to dosing him for a quench.

More wonders:

Karamba, what is happening is what we have always alluded to here. Those who help maintain and enforce Yahya's tyranny and arrogance shall all be betrayed like those they assisted in destroying. Yahya will be consume by similar betrayal. It is the Gambia that is losing by all this dog eat dog.
This people arrested are all guilty by association and duplicity. They will all be found to be guilty has charge, because that is how Yahya's system works. He is never guity of anything. Yahya's own day will be a big feast for his once close friends. They will dance whilst we will cry for the ruins of our country. I wonder what my learned friend Madiba is making out of this messy affair. We need scholars like him to explain what is all this nonsense about.

Santanfara,

Let those with eyes see and those with ears hear. Yet let those with voice say the truth. This joke of a cruelty can never go beyond the limit. All the time Yaya was just fooling about. Now the truth is laid bare and nobody in this wide world has a sensible defence to protect Yaya from shame and scandal. He is far too exposed. Let the sleeping evil conspirators think they are moving.

Down with deception in all form and essence.

Santa,

Stop teasing me! who said i was a scholar? i am still a still struggling to make the grades in this country.

Anyway let me give you my opinion if it matters to you at all in the recent happenings in our beloved Gambia.

As far as i am concern , be it civil or military , anyone found wanting should be brought to book. Jammeh is doing the right in arresting corruption in a dangerous and volatile institution such as a National army. Some of these officers are just too greedy and callous. Those that have served long enough should remember how meagre were their resources then. Today no army officer should be envious of a civilian counterpart. Imagine an army major stealing building materials meant to provide shelter for his troops to fuel his hedonism. Is that fair?

Things could degenerate into a situation where even our street could be flooded with arms from our armouries. Before you know it gun battles could be raging in our streets not to mention arm robberies. The final scene would be total arnachy or even civil war and then sheikh losing his throne.

Do you see the picture now? And Jammeh has vowed to develop the country come rain or shine. In other words he will not idling sit by and watch his revolution and dreams shattered. never! He has even put his life on the line for us to reach the promised land.

As he is the head of state today and president of all gambians today, the country is under his watch and he will be fully answerable to whatever happens to our country during his watch. When he ceases to be president, he too would be audited and if found guilty he should pay, though he was merely trying to do wats best for our nation.

Does this help professor suntou?

No disrespect to a sound personal opinion, though it appears public office holders can only be accountable after leaving office and not during their term of service. Could be a recipe adding flame to corruption and embezzlement. (Just another opinion)

Hi Folks, Madiba I totally agree with your commonsensical argument as commonsense is a rare commodity amongst some armchair politicians, It's good that you're able to point out the obvious consequences of irresponsible anarchic behaviour as eloquently depicted in your opinion.

"Things could degenerate into a situation where even our street could be flooded with arms from our armouries. Before you know it gun battles could be raging in our streets not to mention arm robberies. The final scene would be total arnachy or even civil war and then sheikh losing his throne."I see the Bantaba's Amateur Dramatics Society decided to add corruption and embezzlement into the mix to cause a stir. I would of presumed that the purpose of an audit would indeed look for discrepencies in accounts otherwise what's the use of having one?

Yes Jammeh needs to clamp down on corruption, back handers and prevent arms flooding the streets of Gambia. People in Public Officer are there to serve the Nation and should be renumerated for the service they provide as a result. The Treasury is not to be treated as any Public Official's personal money box. Just maybe the fog of confusion of certain high ranking officials can only clear when they are reminded that they aren't above the law and made an example for those who continue to abuse their positions of power

Gambia is still progressing down the revolutionary path and Gambians have decided no u-turns.

Peace

Hey sister, Gambian Politics AND UK politics, I agree with one thing that you(?) wrote that was:

Many of us have grown sick and tired of New Labour's centralisation policies. The Nanny State has gone mad! Big Brother watches us 24-7 . Even Parents need to CRB check's to watch their children in the playground!

Come on now I CANNOT have a convert to common sense at last can I ?

Karamba, Yahya has been destroying evidence for a long time now. But the issue is far from that. Once a human being has kill, that is it. he/she breaks the ice. killing is just another routine. Yahya knows there is no way back, so he will continue to harm whoever stands on his way.

Santanfara,

From what is said about disappeared former NIA Director Daba Marenah, he too could have been a piece of sacrifice to destroy not only evidence but very vital and reliable source of evidence. Imagine Director of NIA whole operations! There was so much in his information bank.

Do you know of any others with possible leads that are eliminated for knowing too much?

Foroyaa online newspaper editorial No Crisis Prevention and Management Mechanism in Place Could Elders, Imams, Bishops, and Academics be Mediators? under http://www.foroyaa.gm/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4136

Foroyaa editorial exposed dire political crises and a different perspective from what Madiba and Sister Omega consider GAMBIA TO BE UNDER "SHEIKH'S" WATCH!

Yes President Jammeh achieved a lot compared to his peers (in Gambian terms); therefore why the need to over-stay or clinch to power in a volatile situation with all sorts of threaths to his position created by him Not only from rags to rich but the blessing of ruling a country like Gambia for over fifteen years is really more than enough; in my opinion Another good soldier and patriot can succeed to topple his government one day! I would not advise him to wait for more years as President of The Gambia! He should quit and live in Mecca (as a good muslim) like General Mushsraff of Pakistan!

Self perpetuation is the most ugly form of greed in humans and Yaya Jammeh has more than enough of that. How can we accept that Jammeh has so much in his magic sack of development, he is allowed to drop the candies one by one at his chosen intervals? He is a total insult to Gambian intelligence and will end up destroying the nation more than he already done in 15 years.

The man has nothing to offer Gambians other than big mouth talk. Let nobody buy this rotten product of false hope peddled by Jammeh's deluded gang that he is developing Gambia. It is all bogus and anyone who thinks the contrary, let him/her come to the ring of reason.

Gambians will only have to regret as the legacy of Yaya Jammeh remains beating conscience.

Will he be wise to know it is all doom for him at end of day? Can't the blind gang accept reality that this is just one big fake?

Thank you for the links there Kobo.

Murdered Gambian journalist Deyda Hydara was a father, husband, colleague, friend, a loved one to many who now miss him. Does Yaya Jammeh think his (Yaya's) life is better than any other? For want of position why going to the extent of killing dear family members and still sit there feeling you are great? Come on Yaya, what you are doing is wrong and will have to stop.

As a nation, let us shout loud. What happened to Deyda can happen to another nice person. There must be ample evidence somewhere sitting to be exposed. Be assured Yaya, your day is dimming. No more sunshine for you even while the sea waves smile on Gambia's side of the Atlantic.

You can't kill a father and expect to rest. Samuel Doe, Bokasa, Idi Amin, Charles Taylor, Abacha, and many more all felt this larger universe was their private home. Come on Yaya, it is time you volunteer information and seek pardon from all those put under pain by your foul actions. Be fair.

Can't you think for a moment that life is precious and that is all the reason why you shelter yourself with brutal bandits armed to their teeth. If you thought life was nothing, and chose eliminating fine people, why all the armed guards around you?

We can go on and on. Time for you to give up and seek pardon from all those you have been offending for long time now. Face the nation Yaya and look at people straight in their eyes. Tell them who you are.

Those of you out there with information, spill it. You become hero by doing so. After Yaya is done with, life becomes better for mankind on Gambian soil. We are in very bad times.
