Thank you for this article.I feel very strongly about this topic, having had a miscarriage and nearly died from malaria myself, and having seen grown, strong men lying on the floor crying and weeping.....It's a disgrace what many countries across the world have to deal with, and no end in sight. I think most Westerners don't realise what it really means to have cronic malaria....living day after day with the fear. That's why we don't care because it doesn't affect us.If only we suffered like this every year, there would have been a cure long time ago.I better stop now, I'm getting very angry.....
What struck my eye in this article: "....a promise to LEND Africa $300m-$500m for the battle against malaria." So in other words they have to pay this money back??????? Not even mentioning the rest of this appaling, shameful article. But what will be done? Silly question, of course nothing will change, it will just be ignored

I have said it here that the so called Consultants are what has taken Africa backwards. It is a mafia club and until africans see that they are their own consultants stories like this will be comon ground. They borrow your watch to tell you the time and in many cases the wrong time.
They send their own people as consultants and are paid from the loans. It is an old boys club creating jobs for an inner few. how can you produce a 1000 page document in five days and claim right to the secrets of our success.
They live in highly expensive parts of the country and have clubs that only them can belong to. The best job out there is a consultant in Developing countries. Structural adjustment was prescriptive no matter what illness you had. Everyone had tylenol. The objective is to make us poorer and indebted. But largely to keep us always yearning for handouts. There is no success story of world bank or IMF in Africa.
Everywhere is a mess. Ghana was hailed as an example. I was in Acccra many times. It is as chaotic as the FUTAMPAF in Kanilai. I have seen women load containers of rice and sugar and fights in the market is a trademark of Ghanian women's daily ritual. That country is bleeding and yet they say, they have succeeded. yes they have because they are on track in paying loans. Period. THEIR IS NO FREE LUNCH AND AFRICANS NEED TO WAKE UP. |

the world bank is equally guilty of sponsoring projects like 'urban drainage systems or storm gutters next to roads that carry the water to nowhere but stagnant pools.
malaria is a disease of open gutters, stagnant pools etc. its can't be eradicated but it could be seriously and less expensively dealt with by simple and higher Public Health standards. trying to find the drug to me sends the messgae that its ok to get the disease for the time being.many states within the USA are in the same climate zone as The Gambia (Florida etc) but you dont have this madness going on. even in sweden here i was told when visiting a place in the north that they have problems with mosquitos , although i didnt see the joke.
in rural villages where they wake up and sweep every morning its more a seasonal disease during the natural rainy season, in the urban areas with gutters etc one gets its throughout the year.
our grandparents always talk of how ''bodafel'' a corruption for Board of Health used to spray oil into the gutters, and chlorine in drinking water etc.
its a public health issue. |

They leaders will always yearn for the foreign consultants so that when the reimbursement arrives they will share it between themselves. Do you think yaya will reject them if he knows that the next will be huge amounts of loans and all what not for him to pocket.
The west will always be quick to advocate for economic liberalisation when they spot an opportunity for their corporate entities. You can see it currently within the EU member states where there is blatent protectionism.
Did you hear the Deputy German recently describing the foreign companies buying German assets as swamps of locusts. They always want to hurt us and continue to protect themselves.
We should wake up to the realities of our contemporary times. It is ourselves who will bring about success for ourselves. We should be as egocentric as they are and jealous of our values and integrity. |

njuks, if there is no malaria the western phanmaceutical companies such as GalaxoSmithline will suffer and will eventually hure deeper. They will do every thing to protect the bodies at our expense.
Thank God we are seeing and able to compare and contrast. Perhaps sooner rather than later we will be wiser. |

Public health now is busy making birth certificates. It has become a lucrative business these days. Mosquitoes is certainly not on their list.
Some are busy with stores about "expired" foods even thoug you see them all the time on the shelves.
You are right Njuks, BOODAFEL used to be very effectve, even with meat inspections. Now they are rarely seen even though we have more of them graduating from the shool of Public Health. Who can you blame. Everyone is trying to save for his retirement benefits beacsue no one stays for long these days. If Junkung will not pay them retirement benefits, they will pay themselves. |
