Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

I am just a messanger. But I must admit, I don't see an american president going to mosque where I used to go everyday. Take off his shoes. I don't expect seing a yankee having pleasent conversation with the Imam I personally know everyday. Do you?

Nice to be nice! Would you complain if someone is nice to you? Have you read his speech in Turkish Parliment? His warm message to muslims world was a good start. He praised Turkey as a model for other Muslim countries. Obama, sincerely, promoting cooperation based on 'common good and interests'. This is what he said.

Is there any message that I choose Turkey for my first major official visit? Evet (in Turkish yes). I am giving you a message, US needs Turkey and we want to advance our relationship.

He is sincere. He says I choose to visit Turkey because I have interests. I will do something for you, and I will expect you to do something for me. That is a base for diplomacy.

He even told Turkey about Armenian issue. He said he still believes so-called Armenian Genocide happened. But at the same time, he asked Turkey to reconcile with Armenia. Instead of bitter fight, Turkey must reconcile with Armenia (Not Armenian Diaspora) and he put pressure on Turkey. We love his honesty.

Considering Turkish public disapproval of yankees is one of the lowest in Europe and comparable to other muslim countries and some violent protests in Istanbul by some left groups and nationalists, most Turks see the visit as a success.

He supports Turkey to be member of EU. And he tells the 'truth' to France who opposses Turkey. He says:

Turkey is good enough to be allied in NATO, they are good enough to be willing to die for the security of Europe since 60 years ago, good enough to do trade, good enough, but not good enough to have a political union.

He had a meeting with opposition leader. One of them was the Kurdish party leader who got only 4 % vote and claiming that 30 % of Turkey is kurdish. Obama said to him, it is time to give up violance and work within democratic platforms. He says he support Kurdish democratic rights but he condemns PKK (partizan kurdia komitte) for its terrorist acts.

And he is indeed rock star. He take photo with 'golden girls', he visited to a mosque and have nice chat with imam. He said to the youth 'let us finish this workshop before the ezan! How nice.

Don't worry, I will be the first one to chew him up if he makes any mistake.
