terminal meltdown of the mugabe regime beginning. i always said this would never end via politics. it will end when the soldiers refuse to obey orders and shoot the rioting civilians on the street , since they are no longer better off than the masses. Earlier this week it started. Dozens of soldiers went on the rampage after they waited ALL DAY to withdraw the equivalent of a couple of pounds - the max they can take out at any given time. they looted the centre of town(where i used to work) and cajoled the public to join them. The heavy riot mob turned up and beat up their brothers in arms. One person was actually shot. Tide is turning. Alas, it comes out of death, starvation, terminal misery, total lack of utilities(no water, electricity, rubbish clearance,) no food on the shelves, jobs etc) rather than from the joke that power-sharing ever was. However, those of us who do not live in rose-tinted, cloud -cuckoo land, always knew that Bob was always taking the p-ss and just "negotiating" to be able to stay in the picture while he planned his next genocide.there was never ever going to be power-sharing. morgan capitulated to violence and mugabe played his usual clever game and made fools out of those who live on fresh air and hope and no reality.leopards and spots and all that. will the world watch this country implode any more? would someone just go and shoot the old dog, before he takes a few million more with him.

Longtime fellow forumites.I dont know wether to say am fortunate enough to be half Gambian and half Zimbabwean, countries which are currently sick politically.I would want to read the short lived demonstrations by the soldiers with a lot of caution.I dont think the armed forces of Zim have reached that stage to stand with the masses. Those few soldiers will be easily isolated and face court martial. For Zim,we need totally mutiny from the man in uniform.Mugabe's 28 years old roots will take much effort to uproot. He has become the country himself and bought so much patronage amongst a lot of people. The damage's too deep. |

agree, che. but the slow trickle will lead to the full-on flood in time. please people, read the times (uk) today, for the appalling story of the cholera epidemic and how the country is knee deep in faeces. it is disastrous. even today, the doctors and nurses marched, and were beaten back by the monster's troops. he truly does not give a sh-t about his people,( who cannot stop giving a sh-t at the moment)kind of ironic that the death of mugabe's regime may be caused, ultimately, by the death of its people from disease and not by his guns. The Times beseeches the world to intervene, as it does in the congo and other places when humanitarian cause is paramount. Mbeki is a waste of space. stop with this nonsense of "quiet diplomacy" now. time to sned in the UN, Sadc, anyone , really.
