When so many people can die in developed countries due to hospital hygiene, I wonder how many die in developing countries.
The following is culled from the Copenhagen Post. -------------------

A strain of bacteria responsible for over 8000 deaths in the UK last year has also claimed a life in Denmark, reports B.T. newspaper.
Brørup Hospital in Lower Jutland reportedly failed to reveal to health authorities that 13 of its patients had been infected by the C. dificile 027 bacteria, which was responsible for 8324 deaths in the UK last year.
The deadly strain claimed the life of one cancer-stricken Danish woman at the hospital, where the bacteria was eventually localised by Statens Serum Institutm, the Health Ministry's research unit.
According to the institute's researchers, the bacteria commonly spreads in hospitals and health centres with poor hygiene. Most of the victims of C. dificile 027 are hospital patients whose immune systems are already weakened.
After recent outbreaks in several European countries, health authorities across the continent are now on heightened alert for detection of the bacteria.
