My good friend is writing a paper. He is looking for ideas.

What do others think on this? -Janko, Tamsir, Mbay and everyone else.

Regards,
Dalton

Thanks Dalton1,
a very interesting topic, Mr. Sabally made some genuine observations and good points. It’s observed that parents that speak languages they are not good at develop communication problems with their children which lead to serious relational problems in the family and the risk of loosing contact with the children increases as they grow up. On the other hand it is a very complex reality for kids born in the Diaspora and whose parents have no intention of resettling in Gambia.
The over representation of “uneducated” parents in the parent-group that is more prone to speak to their children in other languages than their home-languages clearly indicates identity crisis coupled with inferiority complex.

It is scientifically confirmed that there is more brain activity in people who speak more than one language (bi-lingual).

The question is why are Gambians more inclined to abandon their home-languages than other Africans?

Thanks bro,i just cant add much more but just to reminds some brothers and sisters that, it is just a diffusion if they think they're helping these kids .

Indicating oneself is no illusion and never it be before in fact it is just the opposite.
Insist them on your footsteps, show them some of your culture, speak your languages with your children as much as you can.
Do not prevent them speaking the language of the country they lives,it is very important and necessarily for them to speak this too
But ours has another meaning,It will only help them much better, example holidays, communicates with grandma -relative as well as with other kids.
imagine it by bringing you to Japan while you never heard this country before, your reaction will be a different with this poor kids

Scientist found out that if you speaks with your children in your tongue they will have more respect and give more volume for the future.

What most parent doesn't know is the later problems they may will face at schools, what about if a teacher gives home work to your kids which is about yourself Or asking this poor child about their background?
No more borderline on the educations, and the schools today are busy with almost everything because they need /must to know everything, including heritages of ours.
We are seen the children going to everywhere on the mother earth and studying almost everything. which could be even your own.

Janko you are right can speak languages up to 5 or more at the same time.so there is no excuse here.

Please Help them to find their way out.
