Ana'mumin, arghai'mumin -Zimbaaa

http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/2008/7/29/zimba-kills-7-year-old-6-in-police-net

The masquerade Zimba is a spite one despite the social entertainments normally provided. I think they call the pass in wollof "faas" which would permit you to be free in the vicinity of the Zimbas. The Kankurang has created similar environments in the past. In as much as they (masquerades) have their beliefs of aggression, they should respect others. May be the Zimba community will need to put in place some strict rules which will forbid zimbas from harming people like noted in the article above.

For sure, this one escaped the purpose of the function. May God Almighty reward the poor lad with Jannah.

Regards,

Dalton

This incident is really disheartening especially if the family of the decease is known or in one way or the other related to you.To add insult to injury, the organisers never even got the permit from the police to conduct the show as legally required. It's a flagrant violation of the law and in the process a young life is lost.I only hope the judiciary will dispence justice without delay and set an example to future law breakers.

I was once chased by a masked agugu in Banjul, I was young and very fleet so managed to escape to the safety of my uncles residence in New Perseverance Street, who apparently has no regards for the masked chaser ,he got a cutlass and chased the bad fool away,to the chagrin of the supporters.I did not provoke the chase ,in fact all I did was not to acknowledge his presence like others by running away from it.I did not know that the kids running towards me were doing that because his presence , I walked towards him and attempted to pass unconcerned when he threatened to hit me. I was just lucky to get off and turned around running like hell away from the menace.I was a JJC in Banjul and had no knowledge about such things ,you see.
