This sad tale brought me close to tears. It reminded me Peter Abraham's novel Cry The Beloved Country except that this time the beloved country is one i grew up in and the father searching for his beloved son is an Eighty-one years old poor pensioner who should have been resting in his twilight years watching his grand children grow. Instead he is reduced to a sad and desolate old man who defied his ailing body to trek the cities, towns, villges and streets of Gambia searching for a son who had been snatched by the Gambian dictatorsip and whose whereabout it seems he might never know, even in his final moments of this world. Look how the evil creatures scorned and laughed at him calling him a mad man. This sure is not the Gambia i know. We are known to treat the elder folks with dignity and respect while they shower us with their blessings. Shame on these people. http://www.senegambianews.com/article.cfm?articleID=18300

For very long time, concerns have been raised about the advance of Jammeh's brutality and decadence. All these wicked conducts are commanded by Yaya Jammeh and nobody else. It is his crude belief that by killing and maiming some Gambians (and even non- Gambians) others will fear challenging him. Now his naked backside is exposed to the tropical Gambian sun. Worries are that by the time he gets out, the damage would have been greater. The call to undo Jammeh is ever relevant. A wicked soul in bloody body. Do Gambians have to wait until there is knock on their door or that of close family and friends? |

| Dare we hope for peace whilst calumny holds sway over our homeland, once known as the smiling coast.I wonder if that name still hold true for us because the smile has turned to an ugly wolfish grin, so heartless to hold a person for so long without due process.Shame on this decadence and down with the the treacherous government in the person of Yayha Jammeh. Long live the Gambian soul which lives under such hardship, no matter how long the wait we shall surely cross this wild sea and see betterment for our fatherland.May God strengthen that old man's heart, giving him solace and hope to one day see his son. |

This is very shameful. We have created the government and surrendered our freedoms to the government so that the government can give us freedom; and we have created the constitution so that the constitution can protect us from the tyranny of the government. What is happening in the Gambia is unbelievable... The 'Daily Observer' cannot say they do not know who picked up this young man of their employee. Furthermore, no one in the Gambia, not the director of NIA, not the police chief, not the Vice President, not the President, not even an Imam would speak out and against this mammoth injustice. It is sad... |

| kay, very interesting points. one can see clearly the lack of concern and care on the attitude of the jammeh hench men. they laugh at the old man. some close people to the family are saying that, the youths that Ebrima was sponsoring have no other hope or help. the fear is that, like others, Ebrima may have been murdered. but what this maltreatment will lead to is very unpredictable. yaya's men lack care, they provoke and challenge innocent folks. they seem to believe that, no one can do any thing about this ugly happenings. time will tell. |
