The Foreign Affairs Secretary revealed that out of the total number of tones exported, Carnegie Minerals were paying the Gambian government US$50 per metric tonne exported(Courtesy of the Point-quoting former Foreign Affairs Secy Grey-Johnson)

The Gambian leader made this revelation in his office at State House, last afternoon, after receiving a D4 million cheque from Salah Ezzeddine of the East Line Company, which operates in three Gulf States namely: the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The amount represents a royalty on the export of 10,000 metric tonnes of sand minerals from The Gambia, which was the consignment seized from Carnegie Minerals Gambia Limited. The company’s operational license had been revoked by the government after it was found to be involved in “illegal” operational activitiesHe recalled that at the start, the company took 400 containers of sand minerals from the country, on the pretext of performing tests. He added that since then, no true picture has been given to the government on the outcome of the tests.

It's all a big fat lie Mr President. You know that you were lying through your teeth when you made the above statement. You and all the government officials involved must have been insane to allow Carnegie Minerals to lift 400 containers(720 according to Grey-Johnson) of concentrate sand from Gambia's shores for test purposes without paying a dime. What friggin laboratory in the world would conduct a test on 400 cotainers of sand? Who had so much time and resources for such a test. This is the sickest lie you have told the Gambia masses so far on this issue.
According to Grey-Johnson Carnegie was paying the Gambia government a paltry $50/metric tonne of sand exported. Then Dr Jammeh told the Gambian people that D4 million was paid to him by the East Line Company was for 10,000 metric tonnes of sand. Now this is getting absolutely crazy. If Carnegie was paying $50/metric tonne then they would have paid $500,000(approximately D15 million) for 10,000 metric tonnes of sand, why the hell is East Line Company paying D4 million(roughly $133,000)? Who is ripping off who? If according to you, Carnegie were riiping us off then you and your Lebanese friends are slitting off our throaths.
This brings us to the real figures/values. If Carnegie was paying $50/metric tonne surely they must have been selling for a lot more than that considering the cost of mining, logistics etc. Let us assume they were selling for a humble $150/metric tonne. Therefore 10,000metric tonnes of sand sold by East Line Company is worth a minimum $1.5 million(approximately D45 million). Again why is Mr Ezzedine.s company paying D4 million for sand it did not mine. The truth Mr President, where is our money you ba@?ard?

You could not afford to humiliate him any further because he knew too much, so you decide to appease him the Higher Education job. I just hope the opposition and concerned Gambains are taking note.

It is so much relieving to have you doing the very good job not only by revelation but with your sound analysis. The bigger picture is fully captured. Don't ever expect this creature of a president Yaya Jammeh to feel ashame of lies to the nation. That is what he feeds on. In order to prolong his unwelcoming stay on that seat, he makes regular slot of lies thinking of fooling Gambians. It is now quite clear even to those blind die-hard Jammeh fanatics that the living truth has come to full life while we bury the fat cake of lies fuming from a deceitful creature president. Gambia will never be the same any longer and Jammeh has no way to keep enjoying the loot and crunch of lies. On regular basis, we have to circulate the truth and damn the lies being peddled by bandits in higher seat of public position. The game is sooner to get over than many will ever believe. Well done Shaka. |

I think Shaka got it spot on, unless the Prezzy comes up with another explain to the Nation . This original was bollocks as far as I can calculate. |

Don't tense yourself brethren, your brain is not srambled. Your math is as good as the best. What is clear is that both Carnegie and Jammeh/his Lebanese friends had robbed the nation (and still are) of millions of Dollars. While Carnegie is a group of opportunist international rogue hustlers, Jammeh is using his Lebanese friends as a front to divert millions of Dollars of poor Gambians' limited resources to his bank accounts in foreign lands.

My research on the world market price of the three mineral sand claimed to be mined on Gambian soil by Carnegie according to its General Manager reveals the following: Zirconium(between $500-$650/ metric tone) Rutile(between $700-$1000/metric tonne) and Ilmenite($120-$250/metric tonne). Jammeh and his Lebanese friends chased out Carnegie as soon as they found out the real value of the minerals sand Carnegie was mining. Yet still Jammeh and his Lebanese friends offered Gambians a sickening D4 million for 10,000 metric tonnes of various mineral sand. How much they actually got for this lot only God knows. One thing is for sure is that a very tiny fraction of that money went to the Gambian people. And they are still mining. God help us!! If only Mother Nature could spare us the enviromental damages that could occur as a result of mining. Gambia is a very tiny country and any mining activities should be very very limited or not permited at all otherwise future generations will pay a very heavy price for our mistakes.

Thanks man,i can't help but be concerned about our beloved nation. What is evident as that even the corrupt Gambian officials close to Jammeh are not sharing his loot. He is cunningly inviting outsiders to do the job for him so that the true figures will remain a mystery to the Gambian people, while it is siphoned to foreign bank accounts. My good guess is that it all end up where Mobutu's and other African dictator's wealth ended up for Jammeh will never live to enjoy his loot.quote:

Sad indeed. This ****** might act "insanely stupid" at times but he is a cunning devil. He smartly shrouded himself in an aura of fear and mystery so that none dare question his actions. All contracts awarded to foreign entities are done in a hush in contradiction to Gambia law which stipulates public tender/bidding for any such contract. My suspicion is that a good chunk of Carnegie profit was diverted to Jammeh's foreign bank accounts until he found out that they were ripping him off as much as he was ripping off Gambian masses. The greedy ****** always want more. So he bring in the Lebanese mafia. What pains me is that there are a lot of Gambian who are financially capable of selling the 10,000 metric tonnes of ready mined mineral sand seized from Carnegie instead of giving it to the crooked Lebanese. All it takes is to find a buyer and there are plenty of them. You might be lucky to even find a buyer offering to transport the goods from the port of sale. Once again he denied Gambians this opportunity so as to keep them in the dark about the real value of the minerals. Therefore he brought in the Lebanese to do the business so that most of money is shared between them while giving a pathetic sum to the unsuspecting Gambian people. I had a feeling he had been ripped off by the Lebanese as well but from the way he was grinning from ear to ear(in the picture with the Lebanese crook) while lambasting Carnegie, there is a good sign that a lot of money went to his account. If these allegations can be proven there is a very good chance that Gambians can recover the alleged stolen money. Any reasonable person will question the extravagance.
The Nigerians have set a precedence so please do not give up, the research that folks like Shaka are doing can serve as potential evidence so my humble advise is to follow Shaka’s lead and conduct research.

Lebanese do not have a good track record in our sub-region and their heavy involvement in the Gambia’s economy is a source of concern to some Gambians. At the same time proponents of the Lebanese will argue that Gambian citizen who have the means to invest are not going to pay the price that the Lebanese are willing to pay to do business in an African setting.
