Personally i know nothing about this person other than he was the last governor general in the gambia. Can some people help throw light. In school we are told very little about him and he remained so all along.

21 people have read this topic and yet no contributions. Has this man disappeard in our history or is it because we think he is not important. |

I know his son, Demba. They used to live at Grant street near the then Brikama garage, adjacent to the then Maccarthy square. I think Farimang was a dresser dispenser by profession. I hope am not wrong, it was a long time ago. What particularly do you want to know about him? |

How did he become Governor General and what role did he play towards nationhood. What did he do next after 1970 when we became a republic etc. Any other public offices? |

His stint as governor general was a transition period to self-government. PPP recomended him to the post. Farimang was more of a Gambian represntaive of the queen during that period. His political role was somewhat inconsequential. |

Thanks bamba. I hope we have other contributions. He is too important to know very little about him . He should not disappear in thin air. |
