Kaya i believe is also found in mandinka language. Its a type pf fishing different from KOMO. KOMO is more of communal fishing expedition in which the whole village goes fishing with all sorts of fishing methods all at once. Its agreed and sanctioned by elders.Its follolwed by a festival during the night. It has its roots in environmental conservation where over fishing is regulated.
Close to this is SELEMO. SELEMO is a type of fishing where, in those days of plenty, fish would be seen in the swamps forming long lines. You hunt the fish from behind until you finish the whole bunch. If you start from the front, they all disperse. I think its done at night.
KAYA on the other hand is a type of fishing done with a traditional fishing equipment called DUMBO. KAYA would generally mean a fish pond with a lot of fish normally around rice fields or some bushy swamp where people lay traps for daily supply of fish.
KAYA is more like a trap for a fish.
On land, there are two types of hunting. DAYMO and FELLEH BAYO. DAYMO means to hunt generally a small group of peers. FELLEH BAYO corrupted from two words FELLEH (to see) BAYO (to run after or chase. BAYO is from the word BAI meaning to dismiss or send packing or chase.). That is also sanctioned by the elders where the whole village would go hunting and in some communities for two days without coming home. There is one village mostly known with this in CRD. I think they still do it although just for one day now.

Matter of fact, the artist Juldeh probably borrowed the word 'kaya' from mandinka, but from the song, 'ya ta" in pular would mean "WILL NOT GO' which very well resonates with the message in the song -an idiomatic way of expressing himself.

Janko you are rght with proverb. It translate as make hay while the sun shines. Julde take me back years ago when we used to play a sand checker game called CHOKI unter the silk cotton tree.
