Central Baddibu Gets New Chief
By Fabakary B. Ceesay

Confirmed reports have it that Momodou Kenda Dibba, a farmer, businessman and native of Salikenni, has been appointed as the new Chief of Central Baddibu, with effect from Friday, 18 April. According to Mr. Dibba, he received his appointment letter, dated 18 April, through a messenger from Governor Edwarr Seckan’s office. Mr. Dibba said his appointment does not come as a surprise to him because he is competent and can oversee the position. Mr. Dibba pointed out that he is the sixteenth chief to serve Central Baddibu since pre independence. He said thirteen out of the sixteen chiefs are from his family; that he is the fourteenth.
Mr Dibba noted that some of his forefathers served as chiefs of Central Baddibu as well as Alkalos of Salikenni. Mr. Dibba asserted that he will deliver his duties without fear or favour.
This reporter spoke to some people who expressed appreciation for the appointment of Mr. Dibba as chief. They noted that Mr. Dibba is the right man for the position; that they believed that he can measure up to expectations due to the fact that he is familiar with the chieftaincy procedures.
Mr. Momodou Kenda Dibba,72, is an elder brother to Sheriff Mustapha Dibba. Mr. Dibba replaced Mr. Kabiru Kanteh of Njaba-Kunda as Chief of Central Baddibu.
However, Governor Edwarr Seckan could not be reached for comments on the sacking of Mr. Kabiru Kanteh and the appointment of Mr. Kenda Dibba as the new chief.
