FORMER APRC COUNCILLOR HELD
By Fabakary B. Ceesay

Reliable sources from Bansang informed Foroyaa that Mr. Amadou Njie, the former APRC Councillor for Bansang ward, was among the nine people arrested in connection with the purported mob justice meted on Sheikh Bahayil Faal, who died after being physically assaulted on 8 April, in Bansang, Central River Region.
According to our sources, Mr. Njie was arrested shortly after the incident and pronounced death of Mr. Faal. Our sources added that the former Councillor, together with the eight other suspects, were directly taken to the Remand Wing of Janjangbureh prison, shortly after their arrest by the police.
The police spokesperson, Inspector Sulayman Secka, confirmed the arrest and the subsequent detention of Mr. Amadou Njie in connection to the death of Mr. Faal. PRO Secka said that Mr. Njie and his colleagues are currently held at the Janjangbureh prison, pending investigations on the matter. He said they are yet to be charged.
