Chief Warns Journalists

The president of the Kombo Central District Tribunal and Chief of the same district has warned journalists to desist from reporting on cases presided by him or risk being sent to jail. The chief noted that any journalist who writes in his court will be charged with contempt of court and tried accordingly.

The Kombo Central Chief made this remarks on Wednesday, 2nd April, 2008, before he commenced the cases before him, including the civil suit filed by the Kombo Central District Tribunal. Foroyaa had assigned a reporter to cover the proceeding of the trial between the district tribunal and one Jereba Kulay Bojang, but upon his return the reporter informed our editors that he was ordered by the chief not to report on cases that he presides over.
