Bantaba should be a place of discussion EVEN if you want to ask nutty question! I find the email links on bantaba havent worked, so if you want to email someone privately you have no choice but to disclose your private email online. I have done this and it hasnt been abused, but I understand that some exiles may be reluctant to do this. |

Can I ask Lemon time...where from and why?
I am very interested in the backgorund of the people i talk to online. I think it helps to understand peoples positions on different issues. No sinister motive.
Also sorry if the question is too forward. If I ask something inapproriate please just ignore me! |

What does wasalam mean?
I am sorry you feel lost.......It s big world out there...you will find a home some place soon......
When you get married and have you rown family, that is all you need to feel home and grounded...doesnt matter which country it is in.....
Though it would be nice for all you Gambians to be welcome in your mother country to be able to feel safe, make a living and make a contribution to your country. WOuldnt that be great? Perhaps one day. Dont give up! |

lemontime, you can make a home anywhere you choose. If you can keep talking to Bantaba members, me and bev especially you will not be lost for conversation or information. As for a nutty question I thinking of one. |

I thought this might interest people who are thinking of buying land it was in today Thepoint newspaper modnay 24th april .Opinion - Talking Point "Government Please Intervene On SSHFC Brusubi Phase 2 Project Tuesday 4th April 2006"
Dear Editor, We have now no means but to call the government’s attention regarding Social Security and Housing Finance Cooperation (SSHFC).
Since 3 to 4 years back, we bought a land from SSHFC which is called Brusubi Face 2 with the condition that a) we the people in Europe must pay for the land in foreign currency even though we are Gambians, b) we must fence it within one year and build it within 2 years.
After using our little money for fencing and building in order to meet their condition, there are still no roads in most of the areas - only on high ways - no electricity, and no water. For that matter most of us stopped building our houses and some even don’t want to waste their time again to cleaning their land or plots.
So we are appealing to President Jammeh and his government to put pressure on SSHFC to be faithful to their obligation and carry out their responsibility.
A lot of us want to come back home and invest in our country, but because of lack of roads, tap water and electricity, we can’t afford to return to live in The Gambia. Because the Corporation is not actually playing its part, we are unable to put up structures or constructs houses on our plots so that we too can live on our soil and enjoy our land The Gambia.
So once again I am appealing to President Jammeh to help us in this matter. As youthful and very dynamic leaders, he knows the struggle of Gambian youths. Social Security and Housing Finance Cooperation should try their best to improve the sites by the rain season.
