For German speaking Bantabarians:

http://www.spiegel.de/reise/aktuell/0,1518,540133,00.html

At Manila Airport, a Dutch tourist has been forced to return to Hongkong and never come back to the Philippine Islands again. The woman had refused to answer the questions of the Immigration officer, railed at him and all Philippinos, and behaved very rude and arrogant.

I approve of the decision of the Philippine officials. To run rings round certain tourists from rich countries should be done whenever necessary - in Gambia too. Some people learn respect only by rigour.

I would be happy if the Philippines also kicked out all foreign pedophiles.

I started to reply that this would be a good idea for every country to adhere to and not just for "certain tourists from rich countries" (implication being that only poor people are polite???!!!)..... but then got to thinking about how various immigration officers already believe that they are all-powerful .... where would it end?

Don't bite the hand that feeds U... Refusing tourist entry based on some greedy immigration officer's discretion is Gambia's loss.

keeping in mind that some1 who innately hate Gambian ppl won't visit for tourism anyway!

MeMe, I focused on the 'rich' tourists because I myself saw several Europeans (in Gambia, Senegal and in India) misbehave at the customs in a more than arrogant way. It is true that immigration officers can be terrible, but it is also true that the home countries of those arrogant tourists refuse entry to almost all people from the poorer parts of the world.

But of course you are right: Poorer people can be very impolite too.

Prince, don't be naive. Even bad racists come to Gambia, just for sun, sea and beach. And the worst of them come for sex with minors.
