if you can expand this to a broader African context, the cutlass is becoming a major problem. Personal ownership of cutlasses should be restricted (even prohibited in urban areas)because its a deadly weapon.
In Rwanda it was responsible for the genocide. In the Sierra Leone and Liberia during the civil war it has resulted in generations with either one arm or one leg. Today in Kenya everyone has one and its putting that country at risk too, so many have already been killed.
cutlasses are cheap and abundant but they are not being monitored across the continent until it get too late.
