Alhassan, we both have been the targets of a certain person last year. This person was banned from the Bantaba. I think they also threw him out at the next forum. He was just obstinate.
Turk, don't follow in the footsteps of such people. You are a hothead, ok, some people are like that. Like me, you are not very fond of US politics. But the Bantaba is no Western Saloon, where only the tough and aggressive are respected... |

thank you for the vote of confidence, Turk. However, this should really be unnecessary. The Bantaba is a platform for free speech on uncensored isses. It is my belief that a member should be allowed to opine upon any given subject without restraint. Should their line of argument accidentally offend or upset anyone, it is the recipient's right to refrain from participation in that thread. Like the TV, if you do not like it, turn off. However, i would add the following. Let there be no personal insults. Let there be no direct threats. The Moderator should reserve the right to admonish, yellow card or red card any such offender. We are all adults here - and anonymous cyber-adults at that. This does not give anyone the right to disrespect their equals in a personal fashion. So i would say to Turk, speak your mind, do not personalise the threads against your opponents.Your knowledge is respected and deep. I would say to MeME, refrain from rising to anything you consider as bait. Do not participate if you are feeling upset or angry. Take a step back and respond with gravitas and fact.Argue your points with depth and vigour.Free speech is as vital for our existence as the oxygen we breathe. You are as well equipped as anybody to make your points. This Bantaba is a place of peace and intelligence. It is not a battlefield. |

I agree with what you say with the exception of above that I do not believe I am doing any of these. I do not believe I insulted, threaten any offended so far. Admin has not notify me doing so. I also do not disrespect anyone or personalize. While my comments may be harsh, not nice, but I did not know if that was a requirement for this forum. I will continue to post. |

Turk, the first two paragraphs you quote are generalisms by which we must all abide. they are not aimed at you specifically. The last sentence you pasted must have had some resonance else this thread would not have started , nor would it have been agreed with by other members, inc. the Moderator. Sometimes your admitted "harshness" is perhaps interpreted by others as aggression, personal attack or otherwise. i do not know for sure. You may not see it that way, but MEME certainly did, enough to make her protest. It sometimes behoves one to re-read ones postings before pushing the posting button. I speak from personal experience. If enough people are upset, they probably have a reason. Anyway, we could all do with an occasional objective critique. It will only serve us to upgrade the quality of our contributions. peace |

Turk,
from lurker's previous posting above, both you & fee-sweetie are fine. It is balance and from a general point of view without offending you or anyone. |

That is true Alhassan, many countries in deed are now enacting laws to cover internet offenses, specifically physical and emotional harm inflicted on other people in the cyber space. Hence the name cyber torts. |
