The Fula man (Gainako/shepherd) was just from milking his cows. He had the milk in a calabash (wooden african made container).
The milk during the dry season is in scarcity. It is also the best milk called "jaakam" in pular. that milk tastes really good. that milk is confined to the shepherds and not outsiders, or rarely given away reluctantly.
the mandinka visitor, Masanneh to Ba Samba Mawdo arrived. But the elderly Ba Samba is a kind hearted man, known for his generosity.
Ba Samba gave the calabash to masanneh, and said have some of it
"Doo taa jeh" in mandinka meaning sip some of it.
Then masanneg started sipping nonstop.
after a while steer and glance, ba samba felt that the calabash was tilting at a wider angle that indicated that masanneh was going to sip it all off. Ba Samba went this way to Ma sanneh
"Bari yeh doo tuu adama anin hawa yeh" in mandinka meaning and don;t forget to leave some for my children 'adama and hawa'.
Morals: if something is sweet, specify how much of it you can give. as well, being too generous cannot be a crime but it can put you in situations.
are we in line?
