It causes alot of heart ache. I wish they could give a serious and definate set of rules. At least then refusal would be easier to accept.

i think they do, but people are reading the rules. if information is available on the internet or from the embassy irect the least people could do is read it before they apply. This causes problems for people.
Secondly ask yourself this, why do the cases fail when quite a few get through, something must be working rightly.
most of it is to do with proof.
Proof that the sponsor can support their guest, think how much money you would need to support someone.
Proof that you are married, what proof do they need.
proof that they are attending a reputable collge,s et up an account pay the fees, get the receipts.
BUT MOST OF ALL ASK QUESTIONS, FOR EVERY EUROPEAN THINKING OF SPONSORING SOMEONE TO COME TO EUROPE THERE HAS BEEN SOMEONE BEFORE YOU. ASK THEM, go to seegambia the europeans there will swop war stories about embassy staff all day long.
madiba, mentions two reasons why people have been refused. convinced continue footing ur expenses. find out how much is needed. a figure of £600.00 would not be enough for a visit to the UK. especially is this includes air fares, and spending moneyl

How can a Gambian answer the charge of 'We dont think you will come back'. It is very difficult to refute.

As the Sponsor I did everything right. It was checked over by a business man who had applied for a visa himself and he said it was all correct.

The doubt was with the embassy over whether my guide would return. All he could say is all my family are in Gambia, I have a wife in Gambia. I will come back to my village. But they didnt believe him. He had no right of appeal.
No wonder there are so many false marriages. It can seem the only way.
No wonder so many try to get to europe illegally.

The system needs to be fair and transparent. Perhaps half the fee should be returned to those not successful?

Jambo I gave him a character reference,

Bev, did u provide a character reference for your friend?
Surely that should have come from an Imam, elder, employer or such like..

Maybe meanwhile the British Embassy employs clairvoyants? How else can they say that they BELIEVE your friend doesn't go back?

I would try to make a disciplinary complaint. Arbitrariness should not be allowed to civil servants .
