In Gambia what are the main causes of death to under 18's
In uk it is road accidents, drink/drugs and genetic diseases( I think). Also (sadly) suicide is a BIG and getting BIGGER factor.
In Gambia I imagine it is malaria, TB, hep b, child birth ( baby dies at delivery or young mother dies in delivery) and aids.
What are the aids stats for Gambia? Is it mainly at the coast or in the villages? Do Westerners bring it to Gambia or is it already here?
I had heard that there was a high rate at Bassu and so on because of the highway that links Gambia to other African countries and the truck drivers that move through and use prostitutes? Can anyone shed any light on that?
Do Gambian people have easy access to condoms? Are they provided free at health centres ot do people have to buy them?
Are their any traditional 'barrier' methods?
I am sorry if my psoting offends anyone I am just interested to know more about a society that I love.
