The population of prey birds declined dramatically in Europe in the years 1960-70 only because of the use of DDT in agriculture - scientifically proven. And prey birds dont eat DDT....
ok Jack i think you have a point, and a valid one. but DDT, which is a very effective chemical, in prey birds can be explained! prey birds dont have to be in contact with DDT directly.the DDT was probably being used for something else.
infact as you climb up the food chain the concentration of toxins/chemicals etc increases. this is true for humans too.
rassimian i agree with you too. Salmonella which is natural, can be very dangerous to one's health. most of the food stuff is also imported from the EU.
intensive farming has both a +/- side. in England they realised this after feeding their cattle the remains from the abatoirs. ''cattle being fed cattle parts'' led to BSE in the mid 1990s.
its a pity that food stuff can be so easily imported whilst our food/agric exports are subjected to the strictest rules. its very sad
