Aaah, I just love Tiken Jah Fakoly! We play a lot of his music here at home, my man being an Ivorian and all. Unfortunately we didn´t get to see him at Hötorget, since we don´t live in Stockholm and didn´t have the time to travel there by the time he was performing.
Too bad I missed it. Where you there Kiwi?

I'd rather listen to this and contemplate......
Richard Bona is a singer from Cameroon, and seeing him perform will give you goosepimples anytime. My Gambian partner thought this music 'boring' at the start but now it moves him as it moves me.

Jaam la Paix is probably as good. I saw him perform in Stockholm in 1994.

A nice collection, kiwi! Until now, I didn't know much about Thione Seck, but he seems to like the Egyptian style as much as I like it. Hmmmmmm!

Thione who comes from a griot family started to sing in Dakar at the age of twelve and is one of the originators of the famous mbalax style.
Several of the songs on "orientation" are recorded earlier as traditional mbalax.
He once was a member of the legendary Orchestr Baobab. Do you know them?
