mansa , i will try my best to say which is which .chalo is a white fish which is usually smoked. kobo is a completely different type of fish. did that help , .ofcourse the kombokas or bakaukas and banjulunkas can be of help here ,i am not one of any.i like chalo though ,especially when made into yasah in the evening ..wooo nice.have a nice day. |

Bro, Chalo and Kobo are the same. Chalo is a mandingka word and Kobo is wollof(Gambian). YABOI is used in region de Cap Vert. I do not know what the Péul call it. in Cassamance it is Chalo. |

Koto Alhassan, Chalo is not the same as Yaboi. Yaboi is smaller in size, common in Senegal than Gambia. Kobo is largely a Gambian Species. Yaboi is a close relative to Sardine or Mackerel.
