ONE THING THAT I NOTICED IS THAT THE BILLS ARE TOO HIGH. i PAID ABOUT 4000 DALASIS FOR A MONTH BILL FOR SOME RELATIVE AND THAT SEEMS HIGH FOR THE LOCALS.

Ylowe, The same thing happened when I was there over Tobaski. There was no lights off , but there has been a 30% increase in the electricty bills. I doubt if the problem is totally solved. |

Toubab1020, Why not start making candles in the Gambia instead of importing? |

Alhassan, the 30% increase is not only on electricity but also water supply too.

Well i said that an average family utility bill will be in the region of D2500.00 a month and now its proven that its D4000.00. No Directror, Deputy Permananet Secretary, or Commissioner in the Gambia earns D4000.00 a month.
You do the math and see people can afford to pay. 30% increase is too much for a one go raise. It shoild be gradual so that the customers could absord it. |

| The Gov't should provide cushion for the consumers. Gov't could do that by offering some tax concession to the Power company, the concession will cancel out a certain percentage off of bills. I am surprised that the 30% includes water. My initial understanding was the rise was for elect. |
