Halifa Sallah has called on people to do away with politics of tribalism and sectionalism, describing it as a menace and a recipe for anarchy and national disintegration.

The hypocrite Ayatollah can say the above but the truth is, his national cordinator is on record calling the Fula's of Nyamina Dankunku as 'Torankas' implying they are none Gambians by virtue of their tribal lineage. 'Toranka' is a mandinka term for somebody from Futa Toro which is not in Gambia. Juwara has therefore effectively said that the Nyamina fulas are not Gambians. This is the worst comment from all the disgusting rambling he has ever done. What a travesty!

God save the Gambia

Torankas are part and percel of the gambia . i will only take juwara's coment as a reference to hamat bah's candidate .i will concede that juwara made a terrible analyse of the situation by saying the rule implies a rotation of tribes . this is childish . the man should now be an arm chair politician . it may be a lack of funds which is the reason for nadd not contesting that seat .juwara was also incense by udp contesting in halifa's constituency ,i don't understand that logic. halifa will win that seat god willing no matter how many candidates contested. mbarodis remark may be a slip of the tongue. after all he is a lion of brikama were people every afternoon come to listen to him .

Santa

I did not know that people queue at his residence in Brikama

Does he also have his central Bank from above or is it Magic Water from Nyamina. Is he competing with Kanilai water. I did not know that a former communist now embraces capitalism.

Santafara, i beg to defer. Futa Toro is not part and percel of the Gambia. Futa Toro is senegal. So if you call someone a 'Toranka' what that literally means is, the person is from Futa Toro hence, a non-Gambian.

Thanks for your thoughts

NYARI , WHAT i mean is some torankas know the Gambia as their home like the mandinkas which mean people of manding. the tribal linkage to their origin doesn't necessarily mean they all currently are from futa toro. my mother is a toranka but she has never been to futa toro . juwara may mean it in that sense ,i can acknowledge the point that he is playing a bit of tribal card but that is dismissable .
mbarodi regularly have visitors to listin to his dayly sermons at his residence . i meet his close friend in london who was trying to seek support for his party ndam. i told him i do not subscribe to 100% secular ideological political parties. he said some good things about him ,he even call him on his cell phone but i did not speak to him ,i know mbarodi from his days at basse as commissioner .

Nyari, that refers to the dialect spoken. True, Futa Toro is in Senegal, but there are Fulas in the Gambia with Guinean origin and they still maintain their dialect which is POLFUTA, or mandinkas would put it FUTANKO.

Jeelanka is exchangeable with the last name Jammeh just ;ike they would say "Sonko Nden yang."

Stop the politics and note that the Torankas are not offended being called that name. This is a name that they themselves use to differentiate themselves from the other fulas in the area. And again, please note that not all Niamina fulas are torankas as you put it. Juwara knows this for a fact and will never catergorise all fulas of Niamina as Torankas.

I am not defending Juwara but i know for fact that he, Juwara, will never call Niamina fulas as non Gambians. Because he knows better than to say that.
