I said earlier that Kemeseng was after his paycheck in NADD and should be expelled. Had many counters saying that is unconstitutional but the nomination of UDP candidates speak for itself. So what kind of politicians do we need in Gambia? Opportunist or liberators? Should we trust our politicians?

Thanks Ebra for your observation and comments. They are after priveledge positions and not addressing the political climate, proper democratic structures, independence and integrity of IEC, public accountability, empowerment and liberation of citizens from abuse, harassments, arbitary arrests, torture and rampant detentions.
God bless the Gambia.

Ebra on second thought I am of the opinion that Kemeseng have considered doing the best option or right thing for him to retain his seat under the circumstances. Prior to NADD's strategic formation and existence UDP grant him series of victories. NADD came and he became loyal to its ideals, principles and objectives until the National assembly elections. That was impressive and he deserve commendation in that respect.
However circumstances has changed and WINNING IS AT STAKE but HOW? He stept in two shoes (both UDP and NADD) and he reconsidered his position with NADD, which was only created for strategic objectives as defined under its MOU against APRC and The Presidential elections. NADD which was supposed to be effective DIS-INTEGRATED and appear to be losing credibility.
He had a CHOICE and CONSIDERED WHAT'S BEST FOR HIM TO ACHIEVE MASS SUPPORT and has to rely on UDP's base and GOODWILL.
PEACE! |

No one absolutely should be surprise that Kemeseng is running for UPD. In fact he has never left the UDP. As Kobo said he played the game well to keep his position which is fine and dandy.
What is disturbing about his situation is his silence during the NADD debacle. He should have been outspoken about what is in the best interest of both the UDP and NADD. At some point he appeared to be a uniting factor.
The hidden and now open secret is that the UDP representatives in NADD were never on the same page with their bases. While Darboe and Kemesseng were deep into the NADD idea, the typical fanatics who were dying for positions were indifferent. These are the people who screwed up UDP and their leadership. This is the reason I lost confidence in Darboe's leadership.
A leader must have a vision and clearly express one's position. One must not allow themselves to be used by others. Leadership means strong conviction and decisiveness. I was willing to beat after I personally had a conversation with Darboe and after attending series of his meetings in the U.S, that the man would never let himself be used by opportunist. I thought he had no personal interest in politics so therefore he was out to do what is best for the country.
I couldn't be more wrong. I underestimated the fire that was burning in the UDP camp. Precisely, the fire overcame Darboe and he fell victim to selfish interest. As it turn out to be, his leadership is more of a liability than an asset to the Gambian people. Spin it in anyway you want, but people listing to self proclaimed statisticians like Nyarikang... will always find themselves in a disgraceful situation. What say you??? |

Sorry Kondorong I don't stick to GUNS! Am flexible and consider options that are open for any given situation. Communication, politics, society and the individual are dynamic phenomena and time bound (or to consider what should FINALLY overide DECISION-MAKING AND DECISIVENESS under the circumstances). |
