Former NAWEC MD's Case Drags By Bubacarr K. Sowe
The ongoing criminal trial of the former Managing Director of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC), Abdoulie Jobe, has continued to drag on at the Banjul Magistrate Court. Prosecutor Landing Kinteh on Monday applied for an adjournment of the case in order for them to be allowed time to complete their investigation.
However, the second accused, Tijan Bahoum, the company's former supply manager was in court and represented by counsel, Lamin Jobarteh. On the other hand Abdoulie Jobe the first accused was not in court. The prosecution in a previous hearing informed the court that the whereabouts of Mr. Jobe is not known to them. They claimed that they could not give an account of him, since he was not arrested by the Police.
The duos are standing trial, on two charges of economic crimes which they pleaded not guilty to.
