COUNCILLOR JATTA CLOCKS 60 DAYS INCOMMUNICADO

Ousman (Rambo) Jatta, the councilor of Old Bakau and Cape point ward who was arrested since 23rd September 2006, has so far spent sixty days in detention at an undisclosed location. The family members are concerned about the continuous detention of councillor Jatta. They said they have mored heaven and earth to establish his place of detention, but their efforts did not yield fruits. Family members indicated that the last time they heard about Mr. Jatta was the period he was detained in Gunjur. Dudu Kassa Jatta, a brother to Rambo, expressed that the long detention of their breadwinner has a negative effect on them. Lamented that, there are some elements within their neighbouhood who do not want to see their family live in tranquility.
Readers could recall that councilor Jatta was arrested on September 23rd 2006at his office at Cape point. He was later granted an unconditional bail on the17th 2006 October by Justice Manageng but he is yet to be released by the authorities. In a similar development, Kanyiba Kanyi, a supporter of the United Democratic Party (UDP) who was also arrested on the 18th September 2006, at Bonto in Kombo East is yet to be released. Mr. Kanyi has spent sixty-four (64) days in detention without being charged. Kanyiba Kanyi was granted bail by the High Court, but he is still in detention. Family members lamented that they don’t know his place of detention.
