Very important point made, gambia6005; I also heard about this. If these people are really stealing fish from their territorial waters Gambia and Senegal should complain vehemently at the EU. Fish is a staple food for Gambia and Senegal; one of the few still affordable sources of protein.

gambia6005,
I have been asking this question for a long time ago without answers. Most of the boats come from far east as Chaina, Japan, Korea, Tiawan ans so on. The Dutch must have been new. Most of the fisheing boats from Russia have factories that make different kinds of tined fish for direct export. This is a real problem. What is the Navy doing about this? They should patrol our waters and protect the boundary. Senegal have sold many liciences to forigen fishersmen. Go to Dakar port NO2. You get suprised that all companies exporting fish from there are not Senegalise. Even here in Stockholm, we can buy fish from Senegal, imported sold here by forigen companies.Yet the label says Senegal Mer. I think the country need the Navy to patrol and inpect fishing boats withn our boundaries.

I have lay down the issue on a member of the europeen parlement
one of the europeen"green" members;he told me that his party has put down a formal complain with the chairman of this affairs now it is sit down and wait.
they want to build walls to keep young africans out of the EU,but on the otherhand they allow this pirates(i called them so)to steal the food of the african people.it is easy to pick them up at lampedusa and the canary island and send them back

Bro,
I understand your point. The problem is the EU or Us always put their intrest first. They do not mind what the government says. They can easily bribe their way through. You have quoted a good example about closing the EU for African migrants. Our Government at home must act accordingly otherwise, the EU cares less about our fishing waters so long they can exploit them. It is good you spoke to the person mentioned, but still I doubt if it will help. I hope it will. Our fishermen need the fishing grounds for their daily bread. All EU countries guard ther waters from unwanted fishermen. This Gambia and Senegal should do

industrial fishing is destructive. today in the EU fisheries its a major issue some African countries are simply killed out of the market.

ofcourse they are stealing because they know the limitations of the caost guards. koreas, Japs are all involved.

i was told this by a dutchman himself!

just go to the beach in Tanji/Brufut and see for yourself, fishermen come back complaining about 'no fish'. even Kobo, of all fishes is a problem some days.

Sometimes I wonder if Taiwan's generosity towards The Gambia is not connected with their fishing activity in Gambian territorial waters. It can’t all be about Gambia’s support for them at the UN where Gambia only has one single vote for their independence from Mainland China.

Well like the nigerians say, if you see a toad jumping in the hot sun, know that something is after his life. There is no free lunch. What is suprising is that Gambia voted against the admission of china to the United Nations and now Gambia chmpions the memebership of Taiwan.

Then it is a matter for the EU and the UN. A very urgent matter!

Thanks but it was just an observation.

During the 1970s we always heard fishing boats from Spain, Japan, China and other countries being apprehended in Gambian waters and I can even remember seeing some of these vessels behind the PWD in Banjul. However, it is very rear nowadays to hear any report in the local papers about any foreign fishing vessel being caught by the Gambian Navy. Remember during the 1970s we never had and navy but the only Field Force who used a small vessel to patrol to sea once a while. Now we have The Gambian Navy with patrol boats. So what are they really doing?

I had that as my symbol, but was asked not to use it by Sister Omega as she thought it was disrespectful of Rastas. She hasnt made any comment about Gambia6005 using it?!Since then I dont bother with a picture. Wasnt sure what to choose and didnt want to offend anyone with my choice.
