See Gainako's lead story soon, on Jammeh's move in emptying his cabinet. While many used the word "sacked", we are careful to use "empties", eitherway-whether sacked, removed, or will reinstate, the truth remains, it is empty.

so there are ministerial vacancies at the gambia government building   SOMETHING FOR YOU TO THINK ABOUT OVER THE WEEKEND 
I would like to propose the following people as suitable candidateS
  
Kobo minister of education because he has it that area is the only way forward for gambia
Lemontime, minister of propoganda (in africa) spin in europe
Sister Omega minister of women's affairs, because she would sort the problems that face the african woen and bring them the justice and equality they deserve. 
Anna, minister of agriculture, she would have farmers situation dealt with in next to no time.
Njucks, minister of transport to look into the condition of transport within the country.
Kondorong, minister of international affairs, sensibility is needed.
I would like to propose the following people to hold international positions
Alhassan, to look after the Gambia interests and take on the EU, to be the representative to the WTO
There are ambassdorialships open in other european countries all names will be carefully considered.

Jambo you never know miracles can surely happen!!! .
Is Jammeh emptying his cabinet is that such a bad thing. I consider it rather good timing if he keeps SOS's from his former cabinet then thet will know that Jammeh has been satisfied with their quality of service. The APRC third term in office may call for some new blood with fresh ideas who can bring about the progresss Gambia needs.A radical shake up of the cabinet is probably justified at this juncture.
The new cabinet my surpise us all but I don't think it will be as radical as Jambo's

My portfolio is the only one that doesnt exist. There is no need to create a Cabinet position just for me Jambo. Its very kind, but you can use the money for other more immediate problems.

Njucks with increased transportation on Gambian roads, we deffinitely need you to make sure the two traffic lights are working properly.
We also need you to make sure newly qualified drivers hold on to the stirring wheel with both hands instead of one, especially when boarding the ferries.

Thanks for your appointment, but do you think the guys at home think of us in such terms? If I have a chance to meet any Gambian plesident(elected) the first thing I would ask for is good representation of Gambia withn the EU, and the appointment of qualified Gambians from the diaspora. In fact I had this suggestion in 1996 when the Gambians had a migration confrence in Barcelona,Spain. |

i was thinking about the experience the gambians living outside gambia can bring. some Gambian minister could do with spending a term abroad just to see what it is all about. The last time i checked gambia was lacing a number of Embassy key personnel, in the UK the abassador here is standing in.
If you do not have permanent staff you do not have a presence, just have a check on the representatives of the Gambia embassies in europe and you will see what i mean.
the Gambians at home are doing a good job but i do feel that there hands/mouth are tied.
A Fresh pair of eyes could be a good thing. . if you look at the nuber of events at the Eu or WTP or UN, gambia and some african countries are underrepresented, it does not mean that you cannot attend the conferences they are open, but if you are not their in person it could be to the cost of the country.
At least if a minister is their he can have a first hand conversation with other ministers. .
PS the wage are frozen at last years prices oops |

Banjul, Gambia - President Yahya Jammeh appointed 12 new Cabinet members on Friday, one day after dissolving a 16-member Cabinet, state media reported.
Ten ministers returned to their posts. Most notable among the changes was Foreign Affairs Minister Lamin Kaba Bajo, was replaced by Maba Jobe, a former commander of Gambia's armed forces.
The four portfolios that have yet to be filled are justice, trade and industry, tourism and public works.
Jammeh secured a third five-year term during the nation's presidential vote September 22.
Jammeh first ascended to power in a 1994 coup. He has ruled Gambia for 12 years, winning other polls in 1996 and 2001 that opposition groups said were rigged. The country has no term limits for the presidency. - Sapa-AP |

Just a question. Do Ministers/SOS or MP/NAMs whatever they are called, do they get pensions???
what i mean is if you get elected for Bakau or serve in the Cabinet for just one term would you get a pension for the rest of your life???
i know in some countries they do. |

Just came in from work and saw my name came up in Jambo's alternative government for the Gambia. Minister of Agriculture? Jambo, just because I'm a Dutchie, it doesn't mean I walk around in wooden shoes and know everything about milking cows and how to grow tulips! i am a big-city-woman, Rotterdam born and bred. All I know about Gambian agriculture is that is mostly about peanuts which i don't particularly like.
Although Bev and I are both in the teaching business, I suggest you make her Minister of Agriculture, because she loves the rural areas and i bet she's got a nice cottage garden.
In the meantime I would like to offer my skills in communication, PR and advertising - I know your president Jammeh knows personal Public Relations is important (I am thinking about the pictures of him working on his farm), but there is always room for improvement and maybe it would be nice if someone could ghostwrite his speeches. Naturally a nice residence in the coastal area and a good 4wheeler go with the job.
