Incumbent Whitewash!!!
Now that Jammeh has lied his way into another term, hopefully the last, he should use this opportunity to wash the sulfur off his back to clear the air. Hard working Gambians need a break from the foul environment he has generated over the years. Not every Gambian is resistant to sulfur. So please, no more “foul play” . Congrats anyway, but with reservations! yeh,rah

yeh Cornelius Hamelberg, [Rah] hopes that when the day arrives, that Gambia overflows with petroleum and not sulfur, it wouldn't make a few billionaires, and leave the rest of the average Gambian dry. yeh,rah

I fear pollution most. A case in point is The Niger delta, and the massive oil flow hasn't brought prosperity to that region either. yeh,rah

More money, more corporate deals, mafia, corruption and poverty. NIGERIA ain't happy yet with its OIL and LOTS OF RESOURCES.

However lets be optimistic and pray that Gambia has substantial benefits!

What's this that greeted us on the Swedish text TV the morning after the widely reported beach party victory celebration?

That the Gambian opposition is contesting the Election Results????

International Herald Tribune:
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2006/09/24/africa/AF_GEN_Gambia_Elections.php

Well, there are more than 1,500 Gambians in Sweden and there is some partnership and development co-operation between the two countries. The Gambia is also a popular tourist haven, therefore the special interest in the Gambia.

Today the Gambia will be addressing the UN General Assembly!

Good timing!

Gambiaopposition underkänner val
Publicerad 25 september 2006 - 01:38

Oppositionen i Gambia underkänner valresultatet.

Oppositionskandidaten Qusainou Darboe avfärdade resultatet i helgen. Han menade att valet inte hade varit fritt. Darboe fick 23,5 proc av rösterna.

A summary( I'm in a hurry): The main opposition leader Qusainou Darboe who got 23.5 % of the votes whilst the incumbent Yahya Jammeh harvested 67.3 %, says that the elections were not free and he is unwilling to accept the results.

Next stage? A re-election?
Coup?
Very unlikely.

Out of the question.....
