NADD Gov’t Will Institute a Real Democratic State – Halifa Sallah Thursday 31st August 2006
By Njie Baldeh
Hon. Halifa Sallah, the flagbearer of the National Alliance for Democracy and Development (NADD) in the forthcoming presidential election, has told a large gathering of supporters at a mass rally organised after his nomination that if he is voted into office, his government would serve only one five-year term during which a real democratic system of governance, according to him, would be instituted in The Gambia. He also assured that the judicial system in the country would be revised.
Hon. Sallah promised that if he becomes president, all would be free from harassment and intimidation, noting that the country has started to realise changes since the day of the nomination.
For his part, Lamin Waa Juwara, an executive member of NADD, maintained that what Gambians need is real change and that such could only come to pass if a NADD government is given the mandate to pilot the affairs of the country, adding that the manifesto is clear to all Gambians and is best for them. “Only when a NADD government is in place will the economy of this country no longer be misued by few people. It will be fully controlled to benefit all,” he emphasized.

The world would be a poorer place if it was peopled by children whose parents risked nothing in the cause of social justice, for fear of personal loss. (Joe Slovo - African revolutionary) |
