Although I don’t know very much about Gambian politics, I do know and wish a healthy, free and fair and successful election that can only strengthen the Gambian Democracy.
No doubt Yahya's achievements are many, over the years of steady progress and in areas where I have read criticism of his regime, well it’s sometimes a matter of scale and not only in Sierra Leone, Congo, Liberia but throughout Africa greater respect for life and the standard of living can be improved upon.
In the case of the Gambia, it is the achievements that give security to any incumbent president and that surely makes it difficult for those who are only in a position to promise achievements ( improvements) - if they win. But would they, or can they do better , and if so in what sectors and what are their plans? ( Over here in Stockholm, the Social Democrats released their Manifesto – a practical and attainable vision , to the general public on Sunday. Serious people. Sweden ‘s economy has been on top for the past six years, and in fact – according to the Financial Times, has never been better……Elsewhere
some countries even talk about Unity Government , and just yesterday the Palestinians are fielding the idea of taking cover under a national umbrella and avoid assisting the divide and rule policy which is not in their favour. Progress of course can only be achieved in peace and through peace. So much progress made in Europe in peacetime. Election time ought not be war time.
This website is worth taking a look at even if it looks boring as an idea – because we lack the energy or interest in our own future. IDEA can help the weak, the strong, the Government , the other political parties, the people along the path called Democracy:

I looked up Gambia in the IDEA search engine.
