THE SINTET BOYS, AN UGLY MISNOMER.
At a time when history is recording, it is both a need and a necessity to put the records in their correct order. How I wish I don’t have to reply to this one, but I cannot help it. My love for my decent village, Sintet, is more than just opening my eyes to see it being burnt into flames.
The story authored by Bulfaleh, contributor to the Freedom titled “The Sintet group Kills for President Jammeh.” is so ugly a heading and a true misnomer. Bulfaleh ran out of headlines, and now he crowns the whole of Sintet people as killers, the very ugly headline that is giving me sleepless nights for two consecutive days. To add flames to existing fire, Binneh Minteh, former Army lieutenant in the Jammeh regime is painting the picture more, thus quote “It is also widely belief that most of the torture and atrocities committed against Gambian citizens are done so by this very foreign people in collaboration with the "SINTET BOYS" as rightly claimed by the freedom newspaper editor. The "SINTET BOYS" also do so, because of their ties, with Cassamance. Most of them are either from the Cassamance or have their parents migrated from the Cassamance.”
This to the point is very erroneous, and should any one be interested in tarnishing the image of Sintet, that will never work. Sintet is a blessed village, with intellectuals and decent sons and daughters who find themselves in all works of life, nationally and internationally.
What I cannot argue with both Bulfaleh and Binneh, is that those names mentioned committed crimes in the Jammeh regime, just like the many others being gossiped here and there. I will never sideline any one who harmed Gambians, and therefore in no way writing to make Lang Tombong, Tumbuli Tamba and Musa Jammeh clean, but rather concerned about the ugly headline and the signal that will send to the rest of the world. I am even more surprised that the owner of Allgambian, Bubacar Ceesay, also a resident of Sintet is not adding any line to it yet, and I hope he sees the same dark cloud I am seeing being put on the head of Sintet Village, and to come up with a rejoinder, otherwise his stance is seen as he supports the misnomer.
SeneGambia is interrelated, and almost every Gambian has relatives in Senegal, Cassamance, etc… I know I do, just like some of my Mandinka, and Jola brothers from Sintet. This long existing geographical tie cannot be used to justify the ugly headline.
Sintet is composed of all tribes, diverse, cultural and religious. If a few people committed crimes, that won’t be right to title it “The sintet Killers.”
If not for the military ties of a few that history will bring to justice if they committed any heinous crimes, all the rest are decent people. Therefore, one needs to put the headlines straight and avoid committing the same foul that Gambians are complaining of.
During the past two days, I have heard calls from both the Gambia, and here in the US, most of who are from Sintet or neighbors, uttered dismay that both Bulfaleh and Binneh Minteh could lean their activism in this negative way.
With due respect to any active activist, your activism doesn’t license you to give sleepless nights to decent villagers, and therefore Bulfaleh and Binneh needs to straighten their facts, and it will more manly to offer an apology to those distressed, and inconvenienced by the ugly misnomer.
I will forward this piece to Gambian forums: the freedom newspaper, Allgambian, The Gambian Echo, the Gambian Journal, the Point Newspaper, Bantaba, Gambia Post, Foroyya and other places of research for Gambians, to serve the records, come tomorrow when any records are to be used against any individual or certain villages. I do hope the piece will be given space wherever it is forwarded.
Yours in the Struggle, Yero Jallow, Resident of Sintet.

Brother Dalton,
Safe your breath. You should not even lend credibility to what Binneh and others say. Binneh should think about the young lives he and others lead to their early deaths in the november 11 1995 abortive coup. I am not from Sintet but i have loads of friends from there, from jolas, fulas and mandinkas. Why should Binneh single out Sintet? Has he got any axe to grind with the mentioned soldiers? That his personal business that has no national dimensions. Soldiers have been accused of meting out atrocities to the gambians. Were they all from Sintet? Anyway Binneh doesn't deserve any credibility. Some time ago i could remember when chanllenged by seedou bajinka about what he , Binneh did to those NCOs in Turkey. Binneh the new freedom fighter started hurling out threats and insults to seedou.
So please don't lend him any credibility |

Thanks brother Madiba. I just sensed things were misconstructed. Three names out of thousands cannot be used to represent Sintet, and honesty my position is clear that i will never sideline anyone who harmed Gambians. If i didn't write any thing for it to be rectified, who knows where it is leading to ???? This compelled me to react.
Nice weekend to all of you !
