Toubab, this amounts to denial of bail. D15Million bail bond and yet no charges filed against him at the high court, in the judge's own words??? He must have drank some hallucinogens. Ridiculous!!!!
Thanks |

WHAT KIND OF JUSTICE IS THIS (FROM KANGAROO COURT) HEADLINED WITH COURTESY OF JOLLOF NEWS AS "Gambia’s High Court Judge Frowns At Jammeh’s Regime"
RIDICULOUS AND HOW COME D15 MILLION ARRIVED AT HAVING MADE THESE STATEMENTS QUOTED BELOW; quote: "Justice Abdullah stated that whenever investigations into a case are delayed, the State should furnish the court on the nature of the detention and the extent of investigations.
He added that it is not enough to state that the State says that investigations are ongoing and added that the court would not be blindfolded by such.
According to the Judge, the Applicant is detained for about 41 days without any indictment against him before the High Court. He stated that no reasons have been given by the State for the continued detention of Njie. He therefore described it as unjustified."

FOROYAA BURNING ISSUES NEWS; quote: "Instead of the previous requirement of two sureties with property in the Greater Banjul Area valuing not less than D15 million each, Njie is now released on bail to the sum of "D15, OOO, OOO.00 and 6 sureties collectively in the like sum."
The Judge added: "the sureties shall be lease holders of properties situated within Greater Banjul which collective value must not be less than D15,000,000.00."
He also stated: "the bail granted to the applicant by this order shall lapse upon the filing of a formal bill of indictment.""

Toubab, it must have been that the effect of the hallucinogens he drank the last time have receded and he looked at the judgment with a sober mind and said to himself; What the hell have I done!!' He then realised he got to do something about it hence, the revised judgment.
This new bail condition requires each of the sureties to present a propety(s) to the value of D2.3Million. That is still a hefty one. It is about 47,000 British Pounds and yet the palpable fact remains that no indictment is filed against the defendant at the High Court in the judge's own words. So where is the proportionality here. The bail condition should comensurate with the seriousness of the indictment before the court and in this case, there is none, according to the judge himself.
Ridiculous still despite the amendment.
