Banjul

The Governor of the North Bank Division Eduwarr Seckan has told people in the village of Jurunku that they could bring over foreigners from across the border in Senegal to register as voters in The Gambia if they were sure those would vote for the APRC party in the coming election. He said the villagers should report to his office anyone who tries to stop them.

The Governor, who is himself barred from party political canvassing as a civil servant, said this in the midst of growing complains against the ruling APRC party's alleged tampering with the registration process and its mass recruitment of foreigners for registration in preparation for the September 22nd presidential election. Such reports are now becoming widespread as the supplementary registration of voters is being carried out between the 19th June and 9th July.

The UDP/NRP alliance of opposition parties last week sent a protest letter to the IEC (Independent Electoral Commission) saying APRC stalwarts, aided by henchmen in the Department of Immigration have been issuing Gambian national identity cards to foreigners, mainly kinsmen of Jammeh from the Senegalese province of Casamance, to help them get voting cards.

IEC officials have said that they cannot stop people with Gambian identity cards, birth certificate or other attestation certificates from being registered. A commotion broke out last week at a registration center in Bakau when APRC party militants wanted to force IEC officers to register a stream of applicants they had brought with them.

It is unbelievable. Do you think these kind of things happened before but we just never heard about them? I mean look at what happened in the U.S. with the last election of Bush and the chads that eliminated many voters in Florida...the place where Jeb Bushy, bush brother is now governor....... hmmm... Now what can be done with the Gambia situation... Would there be groups that could come in and monitor the elections to ensure fairness in voting???????

I only hope the people alledgedly comming from other countries to get the Gambian documents, would use it wisely after the election. For I belief in Africanism of Africa with no barrier or resistriction on trade and travel.

Right now, there is nothing one can do about the registration of foreigners. We can only pray those foreigners would not take advantage of those documents to go to other countries and commit any thing illegal thus that country accusing Gambians.

If one looks at the situation in the Ivory Coast,You would never pray for such a thing in your country.

Right now,I am thinking of THE GAMBIA AFTER JAMMEH.
So many has happened and more is still going to happen. We can only pray for unity as we are one and one we should continue to be AFTER JAMMEH.

Yes LEMONE TIME,
A very Big YES.Infact with a very wide margin.
One thing, after the election, just count the votes Jammeh will have ,that of the oppositions plus the number that didn't vote[including gambians abroad] plus the childreen below voting age,

Add it up to have Gambia's new censors.
peace

VOTES HAVE NEVER ADDED UP. I TOLD YOU GUYS THAT WITH THE AU ON, THEY ARE QUIETLY BUSY WITH REGISTRTIONS. IF YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER REGISTRATION DONT WASTE TIME IN AFRICAN POLITICS. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A LOOSER. I BET MY LONG BEAR IF THE TALLY OF THE RESULTS OF THE NEXT ELECTIONS WILL BE CORRECT.

Well if they go to the polls,
Its only Yaya they are helping to say to Gambians and the International Community: "We went to the polls and I won over them clearly now what else do they want"?

And Yes He will be very right to say anything to the already lost opposition.Things like:" look I told you if no one votes for me, the devils and gins will vote"

Come-on LEMONE-TIME, with 90,000 other brother African who want so much to be Gambians to retain Jammeh been registered by the JEC[Jammeh's Electoral Commission],

What are the opposition looking for?
Votes from the dead?

Think about it.

Peace
