I like email, text and phone calls, but there is nothing quite like a letter dropping through my letter box, especially an airmail one!
I have an excellent track record for commitment to writing letters. I am 46 in August. I left home at 18. EVERY week I write a letter to my mum on Thursday night and every Sunday evening she writes back to me. We have had occasional lapses for illness and holidays, but on holiday we send a postcard. If I am too busy to write I phone her. So in 28 years separated a week never goes by without communication.
I would like to write to Gambians that want to tell me about their lives and share their experiences with me. There is NO financial incentive to this, it is just to share ideas and hopefully become friends.
If you are interested in the first instance email
leicesterbev@hotmail.com
give me details of you and your postal address. I PROMISE to reply.

I have tried to do this with lots of people. Last visit at the hotel I even provided all the paper, but only one girl wrote. I am going to help her a little because she showed initiative and I liked her. But noone else from the entire front of house staff have written. My western train of thought is, if they cant even be bothered to do that they arent worth investing in! I know that must sound harsh, but if a westerner is going to help a Gambian we need to know it is a worthwhile person.
It is easy for the hotel staff because they can always get an english tourist to post the letter in england. |

Your totally wrong Bev.
I have the intention to send you an aniversary card on the exact day. Has nothing to do with astrology. Bah astrology, worse than religion. |

My birthday is 28th August. Virgo...you should of guessed! My grandad and dad were Virgoans and then my first daughter was born on my birthday.
Of course no cards, presents or lovely days out would be refused as a celbration of my 46 ( I cant believe it...suddenly closer to 50!) i love fresh cut seasonal flowers. That would be my very favourite present as it is a real luxury. |
