I read this and could hardly believe what I was reading, must have been written by a non African or even a whitie ,the author has not attached his name to the piece which is a pity, what do you think ? Snippet:
"If you Gambians want to wait until the evangelists, Al Qaeda and their local allies hijack The Gambia and start enjoying challo and afra before bombing you back to the Stone Ages, fine and good luck! While you people rot inside your graves, some lucky fellows will be having nice times with your widows and widowers! Hahaha, catch men if you can!"

Interestingly, tribalism as a political consciousness exists only in the mind of western educated elites, hungry for some kind of power.
It is obvious that the mindset and the arguments used to confirm tribalism in the article are the wishes of the writer, wishful thinking not supported by evidences on the ground. What is supported by facts on the ground is that - in Gambia we have language groups not tribe or ethnic groups.
Anyone, who politically or religiously uses tribalism as a means to legitimize his/her position is a corrupt exploiter doomed to failure

Janko,I read what you have written, obviously you disagree totally with the article,I have no problem at all with that,I am totally confused by the whole thing myself, you put forward the thought that the writer is totally wrong in what he (or she)is writing about and as such is talking from a place that is not the the usual place that words emanate from, you write "What is supported by facts on the ground is that - in Gambia we have language groups not tribe or ethnic groups." The Snippet that I gave in my first post on this topic made me think that the author was very confused (i.e." Hahaha, catch men if you can!" )and, yes, beyond belief and was probably not a person well versed in the subject that he (or she) was writing about, can you make any general sense of what the author was trying to convey? |
