THE POINT NATIONAL NEWS; "Monday, April 23, 2012
In a rather unprecedented move, the chairman of the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP)’s Banjul committee, and advisor to the party’s youth wing, has tendered his resignation to the party executive, a letter seen yesterday by The Point has indicated.
Mr Ebraima M. Ndaw (Bollop), who is also an executive member of the UDP party, said in his resignation letter that the reasons for his move at this stage are numerous, citing his insecurity, factional infights and false attacks on each other.
Noting that his decision should be forwarded to the central committee and eventually to congress, Ndaw said his “insecurity as a party official due to lack of support from what I consider as a weak and unconcerned leadership management style, and factional-in-fights within the various ranks and organs of the party” were some of the reasons for his resignation.
He also cited what he referred to as “petty intrigues and false attacks on each other, most of which are mere inventions to destroy a perceived enemy within the ranks. The in-fights within the various organs have become so serious that things have got out of hand.” According to him, since the purpose of the 17 years sacrifice he made for the progress and development of the party by using his time resources and even his energy has become meaningless, “I need not waste anymore of these against so many odds. I therefore resign without any regrets, without any ill-feeling or anger against anyone.”
He noted that his relationship with his former colleagues will remain the same, except where politics is concerned because “I am totally disillusioned with what I recently saw as party politics.
Such a situation, he added, will only increase hatred, disrespect and infighting within members who now target each other.“This is the present situation, and I for one cannot live with it,” Ndaw stated in his letter.
Meanwhile, the UDP leadership could not be reached for comment, at the time of going to press."

He has tried for 17 years banging his head against a wall and at last has realised that politics is a dirty business and is not for him , “I need not waste anymore of these against so many odds. I therefore resign without any regrets, without any ill-feeling or anger against anyone.”
"Meanwhile, the UDP leadership could not be reached for comment, at the time of going to press." Errrrrrr.................what do we do now? ................
Perhaps a shining star in the morass of darkness that is politics,a man who at last has found his way to contentment.
"He noted that his relationship with his former colleagues will remain the same, except where politics is concerned because “I am totally disillusioned with what I recently saw as party politics."

That's it then, the story in a nutshell, finished, move on. I am sure everyone will note the usual response written in the final line of the article, which is the norm from ANYONE OFFICIAL in the Gambia when asked to explain difficulties and take a positive position. Snippet: “My decision to leave the party has been well grounded. I have decided to retire from politics. I felt betrayed by the party. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have been a loyal supporter of the party. I have been with UDP from day one. I have decided to call it a day with the UDP. It’s over,” he concluded.
Both Mr. Ousainanou Darboe and Neneh Cham Chongan could not be reached for comments at press time."

"Both Mr. Ousainanou Darboe and Neneh Cham Chongan could not be reached for comments at press time." (wrote The Point on 26th April)
After a bit of thought and a couple of days to think about things UDP has come up with their own version of events, understandably differs markedly from that of Mr Ebraima M. Ndaw (Bollop),whatever version you go with is a matter of personal choice one thing for certain the resignation of a member after 17 years is bound to have made a big dent in people's perception of the UDP as an opposition party.

No wonder when heads of UDP were sort for comments initially:

Oh dear, there is an English saying "There is no smoke without fire" This appears to be the case here,or maybe this is the infighting that is the hub of the UDP's problems.

Snippet:Wednesday, May 02, 2012 "Ebrima Ndow, a senior official of The Gambia’s opposition group UDP, who recently resigned from the party in protest at the “party’s poor leadership and power struggle” has said that the UDP Deputy Leader Yaya Jallow is also on the verge of leaving the party due to the growing lack of faith in the UDP leadership." |

Reaction From UDP By Ebrima Solo Sandeng Secretary General UDP Youth Wing Wednesday, May 02, 2012
The article in your paper captioned “Breaking News:” in which Mr. Ebou Ndow was reported to have resigned from the UDP, attracted my attention. Resignations and departures take place in the lives of all organisations the world over but generally, except in case of crises, people who resign, do so without fanfare or recriminations and I don’t believe that there has been any crisis in our party to warrant the diatribe and fabrications that Mr. Ndow, a founder member of the UDP, made in his interview
However, for somebody claiming to have served an organisation such as the UDP with its noble ideals of building a better Gambia, who has held positions that Mr. Ndow claims he held in the party, resigning over some mysterious personal reasons and announcing it in the press one can only conclude that there is an ulterior motive to it....

A definite improvement in the response of the UDP at last they have realised that they must reply to problems as soon as they are made known and not follow the previous line of ""Both Mr. Ousainanou Darboe and Neneh Cham Chongan could not be reached for comments at press time." this time, the man who actually knows, Ebrima Solo Sandeng Secretary General UDP Youth Wing has done his job very well,in my opinion a plus point for the UDP if every official in Gambia who is responsible for something followed the lead given by the UDP things would be resolved much much quicker. |

Mr Ebraima M. Ndaw (Bollop) is a rock in Banjul North political campaigns since days of P.P.P, for Late Pa Kelepha Samba and a big lost to mobilise in Banjul.
It happened to Pa Sallah Jeng who was winning as independent candidate and for U.D.P but "FELT BETRAYED" just like Bollop? Pa Sallah Jeng was last victor for U.D.P but out and since then U.D.P never won in Banjul again
A CASE OF CONFLICT OF INTERESTS, SELFISH, SOME SORT OF GREED (FOR MONEY), INSENSITIVITY, UNFAITHFUL AND SHEER "BETRAYAL" OF GOODWILL, ALLEGIANCE AND PROTECTION OF A PARTY MEMBER (ESPECIALLY A FOUNDER MEMBER AND KEY LOYAL STRATEGIC MILITANT THAT SACRIFICE TO FIGHT FROM DAY 1 TO-DATE) BY OF THE UDP LEADER
Is it right for UDP leader's private firm to entertain a law suit at retainer fee for services against a militant and founder member who sacrificed 17 years loyalty (in terms of time, resources and energy); BEING DISCREDITED NOW? The rejoinder is mere academic exercise, attempting to cover bad publicity and/or winning media propaganda but there are serious repercussions and revelations of poor leadership to follow
