Folks, Is all well with Observer's professor, Sajar Taal ? I was following daily news as a timely routine, and realized that all seem not to be well, if reports coming from the "Echo" are to go by.
Sajar, famous for the old Kent street activism in Banjul, was also the PS at Education department and senior political science lecturer at the University of the Gambia.
While, if such news is true, i condemn his disappearance as a barbaric act, but quick to add that such helpers of tyrannts and dictators always find their days ending disgracefully.I hope and pray that he is not a victim of an administration he served well to oppress other Gambians.
A lesson to learn, like the author puts it, when they come for me during day, watch your feet over night. That's why i believe it is good to condemn terror of all kinds, because no one knows where the next hit is coming from, or who the next victim is-it could be any body's mum, dad, uncle or even oneself !
Down with terror !

The ECHO reminds me of an old Gambian newspaper called the GAMBIAN ECHO of years ago which has since ceased publication. I believe Mr. Allen was the editor . He used to live in Allen Street and stunt supporter of Press freedom and did all he could to print his paper. I rememeber him printing on stencil and sometimes with the carbon over spilling over his prints. He never gae up and the gambian Media should honor his efforts.
I hardly rememeber any talk of him. |

Once a tyrant always a tryant. It is sad that such technocrats like Dr. Taal could buy into Jammeh's vision and mode of operation. I vividly remember Dr. Taal's one time guest of honor graduation speech at Armitage. His calls for honesty and integrity still echos in my mind. I hope and pray for his family as this regime have no friends, and has a history of ruining incredible citizen knowledge and experience. Lord have mercy on us. Peace. |
