I find this link very amusing. Africa can be summarised as what the Mandinkas say : KOTI KO DANILA meaning someone who has salt and is looking for it. You can only wish for something you dont have not what you have.

We have the means to be what this link is trying to wish for. "IN THE ABUNDANCE OF WATER THE FOOL IS THIRSTY" BROTHER NESTA MARLEY. How can you have a single military command when the hope of every child born on the continenet is to not only become president, but president for life. Some even ask us to be as "...patient as a vulture....." because they are not going anywhere.

i think in fairness we should give Gambia a break and allow the summit to proceed without trying to dictate what the Agenda should be.

detention of journalist and ordinary people is a not unique to Africa for it to be so high up the Agenda. compared to poverty, education, securiy, and health issues relatively speaking.

Guantanamo is the more visibly deliberate illegal camp. lets give them a break to atleast meet and talk, when its finished we can analyse.

njucks,
A birdwatcher never sees his own side. This is an African problem and what ever can help solve it,we should discuss that now I think and not to wait until all the fat greedy/bloodthirsty leaders leave our only discussion forum.

What are you implying or trying to say?

As Kon.used to say hope the magic water has not caught you?

Africa, the richest[with all that God can give mankind] yet the poorest, most backwarded, most corrupt, most brutal, most inhuman, must darkhearted, with all her diseases, famine, refuges, mutilated and raped sons and daughters.

Which other place is best suited for a debate about the future other than when those responsible are assembled?

How do you imagined Dennis Sassougueso =Evil of all Evil =Chairperson of AU?At least,Jammeh is far far better a Chairperson than Nguesso. This brute who came through a bloody military coup in Brazavelle, does not allow press freedom, journalist are killed and dragged through the street on TV to warn other opponents of him.No wounder no body in the AU can stand up straight without bending a little or bend like "muntaiga"[a mosquito coil].How do you expect us to give our dear smilling coast a breath to have on her soil people with blood on their hands invited by another with blood on his? Jammeh!
With mudering thugs like:
Zimbabwe's Mugabe,E.Guinea's Nguema,Zambia's Mulunzi,DRC's Kabila,Burkina's Campouri,Cameron's Biya,Libya's Gadafi, Chad's Deby,Uganda's Muzaveni,Sudan's Bashir,G.Conakry's Conte,G.Bissau's Vierra,Morroco's King Muhamad v,All Somalia's war lords,Ethiopia's Zenawi,Rwanda's Kagame,Gabon's Bongo, Algeria's Buteflica,Aglola's De santos,Swaziland's King Mwati II, Senegal's Wada,S.Africa's Mbeki,Tanzania's Mwainyi,Mouritania's Vall,Egypt's Mubarak,Ivory Coast's Gbagbo .....ect.

Just to give you some few blood thirsty Africans who need no sleep until Africa is corruption free, killing free, raping free, disease if not totally wioed out but greatly reduced with access for everyone without discrimination.

No we are not stopping. You can if you want but African everywhere are on the move and maybe you have not seen the Great Sahara storm or the one from the Namib desert engolvimg Africa. When the two meet, then we shall defeat all dictators and salvage Africa.

peace

well my line of thinking was that this is a diplomatic meeting. period. it has an Agenda decided long ago and like board/cabinet meetings what is to be discussed is fixed. trying to include anything at the last minute is just a waste of time on your part. you're trying to be a bridwatcher in the Sahara

also you dont try to bring 53 heads of state and ask them to pick amongst themselves who is a dictator and who is a democrat. in the same way as you can't interfere in the domestic affairs of INDEPENDENT countries. painful as it may be you just can't do that , otherwise there would be chaos in this world.

let the summit pass and concentrate you efforts in each member country as each country is different.

the problem of Sudan is not the same as that of Nigeria. there is no Africa wide solution. this has been the mistake for 40yrs. deal with each problem seperately.

Ya ya,Brother njucks,

I belief despite you are entitled to your opinion, someone somewhere should definately wake you up.Ya individual independent countries have their own sovereignty and no one should interfere in the domestic affairs of an independent countries.
But thats just words on the surface my dear brother.

Domestric problems leads to regional problems which spreads to become a global problem

Ya if going by what you seems to imply,THEN WHY AU IN THE FIRST PLACE? WHY UN? WHY EU? ect ect.My dear brother the various intergrated blocs came into being so that issues affecting their individual countries could be addressed as a regional problem. If not so,then why AU troops in Sudan? Was that internal problem not already spreading accross the globe? Also why need be for an international tribunal to try crimes committed in another country as you said you can't interfere into the domestic affairs of independent countries? My brother, the earlymorning clock has cimed!.No country is an island on its own. With cultural, ethnic, economic, social, political, religious, and tribal connections amongst countries,we are linked and political borders cannot seperate us.One DOMESTRIC problem in Sudan affects Chad, through the rest of Africa, one DOMESTRIC problem in sierra leone affects Gambia,Guinea through the rest of Africa,a problem in Somalia, affects all Eastern Africa through to the rest of the continent,A DOMESTRIC problem in Ivory Coast, affects Senegal through the rest of Africa! on and on and on.So who is left behind unaffected? If we can't meddle into serious Domestric affairs of independent states, should we sit until the bush fire spreads into our territories then to start to put it out?

The problem in liberia led to the killing of some soldiers at the Farafenni Barracks some years back when machineries fighting under the then warlord brutal Taylor crossed to sierra leone miming people and some Gambian machineries moved to the Gambia trying to take over our military instalations{infact they took over Farrafenni Barracks for a time].

If Gambians were revolution conscious as serra leonians, don't you think some youth in Farrafenni and soroundings would have heeded the call by those rebels to join them in trying their way to Banjul? How many would have died on their way?.

If going by your idea, then the world would not have been what it is today.Maybe you and I would not have been born.

The duty of all foreign countries is to be your neighbour's keeper. It is wise to raise the alarm when you see your neighbour in conflict.Posibly interfere b4 it reaches your door step.

Peace

i think you're over simplifying things to the point of over explaining things. it is a generally accepted principle not to interfere in domestic affairs of sovereign nations. what DOMESTIC means is up to you.

dont blow things out of context by making them took complex and worthy of a lecture.

problems take an internation dimension because nations have signed treaties that have to be upheld.hence you have AU,UN etc . thats why you have them.
