One thing is obvious, the whole AU structure is just a waste of time. Nothing serious ever comes out of it. It is just a talking shop. They could not even equip the few solders they have in Sudan. Who could tell me one good thing the AU has come up with. It is just like the disgraced OAU before it. Wasn't this AU suposed to be a system that was not to tolarate tyrants in their mids. Then why is Jammeh the host of this event. dosent this kind of thing serve to ligitimize his criminal regeme. Even as people are being totured in his dungons, he is saking hands with AU leaders and Annan. What a shameful state of affairs. Do you know that the two countries wthat were frontrunners to host the event were Gambia and Sudan.
When everything is said and done, we the people of gambia are left with the bill. I read from the freedomnewspaper web page that the gambia has been suspended from the millinium challenge. So we are no longer qualified for aid under that scheme. The country is indebted to the eyeballs thanks to the government of Taiwan.
Hey that is briefcase diplomacy. Money talks. It is interesting to note that Gambia voted against China's admission to the UN and now we are the biggest supporter of Taiwan's independenece from the mainland although we have also remained a memeber of the non alliance movement. YOU CANNOT RUN WITH THE HARES AND HUNT WITH THE HOUNDS.
