A reshuffle taking place and a new man in the seat,again the problem of funding for projects and the continuing mindset amongst Gambians that the handicapped are somehow incapable of doing a good days work and taking part fully in all Gambian activities.

Snippet;
The Gambia Association for the Physically Disabled (GAPD) on Saturday 24th September elected a new executive to manage the affairs of the association in the next four years. The election was held at the Father Farrell Hall in Kanifing.

Thanks Kobo,it appears that GAPD has got its act together and will promote better integration of physically disabled people into work and the general community.

If integration of disabled people in Gambian society is to take place they should be able to be members of the National assembly,although I have my doubts that the general population of the Gambia will be able to understand that at the moment,my own feeling is that GAPD should carry on making strides into the hearts and minds of non disabled Gambians in order to make them realise that the intellect and thought processes are just the same as theirs, a man is a man, a woman is a woman, disabled or not and as such it is incorrect to refer to the disabled as a "handicap" with the implied meaning that the disabled are not real men or women who have exactly the same needs and desires as the non disabled person.
