I can even hear the gong sounding from the school sergent.
Lunch time....
"In the name of God the Merciful the beneficient,We stand before you to have this meal in dinning,We pray you give us long life and keep us away from hunger".
Amen!
Start eating now.
Boy good night.

PRAYER WITHOUT EFFORT IS NOTHING MORE THAN HOPING YOU WILL SEE TOMORROW WHEN YOU ARE PLANNING A SUCIDE TODAY.

I always hated having to use a spoon in the dining hall. It made us more western than the westerners. I like my hands and now still use it to eat. It is sweeter with every mouth full and more rewarding. I hate calling our teachers as MASTERS. It was a colonial legacy which unfortunately still aplplies. How can a teacher be a MASTER. I guess old habits die hard.

I can rememeber saikou Singhateh calling for last prayer(Senior Kitchen Committee Member)and his problems with the behind brothers, Lights Out and the the PONSEH (soaking bread in water), RESTING HOURS (forced sleep during the day), GENERAL INSPECTION (weekly cleaning which culminates into inspection of wards every saturday morning), IMPROMPTU NIGHT, MUSICAL NIGHT, TOWN FOOD, END OF ISLAND AND THE KAABAA, BONE, Katim with the famous how to kill a cat and his pants turned inside out, the school sergeant Nyancho always serious and hardly smiles, and Manding with his usual big words like AUDASITY, MANDATE. Armitage is not complete without the famous MBORR. To add spice to it all, the all time Mr. Sey with dawn prayers at 3.00am with the usaul holy songs for hours before dawn, yet the senior students never prayed with us. That was something.

I wish i could turn the clock backwards.

Mark you kon,

Obey and complain....

When we eventually took over,it was the same trend. Why didnt you try and change some of the old laws then? The notion of the long sleaves and trousers meant high above and every green leave wishes to reach that stage. This is Armitage since 1927.Senior Boys are above the law.Armitage democracy or Sembocracy!(laugh)
.

But the truth is in those days, students would campaign to acquire votes from fellow students to become either Head-Boy ,Kunda Alkalo,or any of the council positions. The council were the right representative will of the student body.I can remember when aspiring candidates would stand infront of us presenting their manifestos and we choose whose we think fit to represent us.

But now,the council is imposed opon the students.Atleast that old law of students choosing their leaders has been repealed.Waau!
